Hi Lips its the wonder holiday of Labor Day. Everyone gets off to celebrate living through so many days at work I guess. Still never quite figured this holiday out but the Unions seem to make a big deal out of it. There are parades and carnivals with lots of candy thrown to the kiddies and helium baloons flying. Also a good day to cook out-or just relax and enjoy the weather before it starts to turn fall and get colder!!

Holiday weekend

Its like a graveyard around here at the moment.

That's probably because over here (across the pond) it's a holiday weekend. Hurray for Labor Day!!! Like hell! That means that the weekend of the first Monday of each and every September I have to pay my employees for going out to get drunk for 3 days. (Actually only 1 of those day, Monday) Really, I don't mind paying them for this coming Monday. In fact we're all having a 3 day company picnic here on my farm. Nobody in except employees and families/dates. I even hired five girls to look after the children and I'm buying the booze. I figure this is better than going down to get them out of jail for DUI so they can be back to work by Tuesday, or worse still, attending their funeral or that of someone they kill while DUI.

If there are any other employers out there who read this you will find that my employees are all more productive because they're happy. Two of them were actually offered $50.00/week more and turned it down to stay with me.

That is the right way to do things . People that are happy at work are the ones that work the hardest and have loyalty to their employer.

Yes and no. I raise domesticated wild hogs for food and profit, but only have two acres out of 80 planted for a food source only. There's just too much government hassle to grow more as a means of profit.

I have three seperate businesses.

One is tie-dying
One is a small local advertizing company (Pint and air)
One is breeding and training pit bulls. (For hunting wild hogs)

I only have twelve employees at present, but I'm always thinking of expanding into another business. I've been thinking about escargot farming. Why? They are a lot easier to catch than wild hogs or chickens if they escape. (I'm serious) I've been drug over rocks, through swamps and briar patches when one of my brood sows broke out of the holding pen. I've had thirty five stitches from being ripped by a boar's tusk (three inch tusk). They are good food and a good source of income, but I don't recommend anyone trying it unless they also raise and breed pit bull dogs.

Thought I'd take a break from the party

and check in for a quick look.

Right now it is 11:09 PM August 31 here and I have about 50 people outside in my back yard. We have several musicians among us (myself included) and we have been playing a little Bluegrass music. and drinking beer like crazy. (17 cases so far) and the party is just starting.

We will probably wrap it up Monday morning around 3:00 AM and everyone can have all day sober to Monday up in..

Someday I'll invite you over as a party guest Lips. I'll even pay for the plane fare (coach) to Hartsfield International in Atlanta. Plan on spending at least a week so you can take lots of pics when I show you around the Blue Ridge Mountains. We really do have some beautiful scenery.
