It is in honor or the memory of those that past...
celebrating the unity that was caused in the horrific
acts of violence toward us. Letting the world know
that we will not fall quietly without a fight or remembrance
to the vunerable time that was inflicted upon us

Those that are past are gone Silken.................

If we were to honor everyone that was hurt or killed in a horrific act of violence, we would be doing it everyday................

What we are doing, buy celebrating, is exactly what Terrosim is about.......Keeping it alive and in the news..............

Innocent people died....yes......But aren't innocent people dieing
now in Afganastan ???????????

Lastly.........there is no unity in this Country or the US with any other Country........mere words............

Soooooo....Why are we Celebrating a Terrost Action ????????

911

BTW Silken..................

The terrible act that the US experienced and is remembering
was created by the US..........Started by our Presidents father......

So why is the US Celebrating ?????????????

Lips, I just want you to know that myself and many other Americans do appreciate the sentiment portrayed in your signature line. It is nice to know the Brits are with the Yanks on this one.

Remembering is not a celebration, I will not forget either. Thank you.

RESPECT.............

This is done out of respect for the innocent people that lost their lives. Nothing can exscuse the actions of these ISLAMIC terrorist . Its the furthest thing from a celebration, and anyone who see's it that way must be dimented. And there is one thing for sure neither of our countries will sit back and say"we invited it " because we did'nt.

Again Bender it isn't celebrating the acts of the terrorists...

tell me do you celebrate christmas/haunaka, forth of july, easter/passover, holloween, thanksgiving, or any of the other holidays??

Every holiday can be linked to a death a tragedy... so to say that this is celbrating the terrorist act and not the unity that was caused is absured. Perhaps there isn't unity where you are but in my neck of the woods their is. I will bend myself for another person if it will help them. That is the type of person that I am, to give without thought of anything in return. Just to love and mourn those that lost knowing that they have gone to a place where the demons of the world can no longer hurt them. I am sorry if I am going out on a tangent here. But honestly Bender your words are an insult. I have pride in who I am and my heritage no matter what had happened in the past to my country. It is my home and will always call me back when I am away from it's shores. America is a place all it's own with great diversity. I have yet to see another country with such a plethora of things to offer and still survive under the strains inflicted.

Lips sorry for taking over your thread... *hugs*

Sorry Silky, as much as I agree with the point you are making the example is way off base.

Christmas........ Birth of Christ

4th of July........ Birth of a nation

Easter..............Christ rises from the dead

Thanksgiving.... Landing of the pilgrims

Presidents' Day.. Birthday of Washington and Lincoln

Labor Day......... Celebrates the American workers contribution.

Most American observed holidays celebrate life and/or achievement.

A very few are observed to honor the sacrifice made on the field of battle by others to keep our way of life free. However, we observe Memorial Day, we do not celebrate it.

Your point is well taken and I offer this in the interest of clarity only. I do not believe we celebrate holidays coming from strife and death. They are observed in memorial only so we will not forget.

We will remember September 11, 2001 just as we remember December 7, 1941. To borrow a famous quote to include last 9/11 both are "days that will live in infamy."

A DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY.......

AMEN...... NORMAL SERVICE WILL RESUME TOMMORROW. :(

Some call them terrorists. Not me because I am in no way terrorized or even slightly frightened by them. I call them cowardly assholes because they chose not to wage war openly, against our trained military personnel, but to attack innocent men, women and children.

No! Today, 9/11/02 is not a day of celebration, but a day of mourning and remembrance of the loss
of innocent lives.Posted by pipebender BTW Silken..................

To this I say maybe, but even if true they and all of the other factions in the Middle East had best take care. Let them come to my neck of the woods and start some shit. We'll finish it for them post haste

Yes I agree. But to all those people that comment on the fact that we should continue negoiating. I would like to ask them all, "have you ever lived in the middle east". I,m sure most of the do gooders have'nt. They should try it for two years . Apart from being a big culture shock they would realise that these people are very difficult to deal with. :rolleyes:For example. If an Arab strikes you and you hit back . he thinks he is hard done by because our culture teaches not to behave that way(amazing ).
We in their eyes have no right to retaliation. :mad:THIS IS A CULTRAL AND REIGIOUS WAR.The whole world will not be dominated by ISLAM as they would have it. Its all a matter of ignorance by people living in the 21st century with 11th century attitudes.
