The problem is they're always at a shit low bitrate, I mostly just use them to sample new stuff and then by the cd so it can be ripped all lossless. Tis why the iTunes music store is bollocks.
 
Tonal and range quality differences are minimal at best.

I've tested it for myself, same song, one at 256bps the other using a lossless codec, the former always seems so flat and lifeless, the latter is alot more immediate, almost like vinyl minus the inteference.
 
Oh theres a difference but for the price I'll deal.

Plus you can compansate somewhat with EQ and Preamp settings if necessary.

I have the least corrupted files from Limewire, Kaaza was a pain for me

LimeWire rocks. It's fast, easy and I can find just about anything on there!. Kazaa sucks donkey dink. It's full of spyware, viruses and crap. Slowed m pc to molasses.
