Hi,

lilfrk's 8-year-old daughter is in the hospital. A clear diagnosis has not yet been found for the reason why she's so sick. She's been there for three days and will not be going home in the foreseeable future, certainly not until she's been diagnosed and helped back to health. At this time, she's still very ill.

Please don't post your hope for her daughter's well being here; lilfrk won't see it - not until days and days from now, in all likelihood. Instead, if you would, please send email greetings to lilfrk and her family with your wishes for lilfrk's daughters complete recovery.

Something like this saps the strength and heart from a family. lilfrk and her Man could really use the support of those of us who've been close to them through the last year and a half.

cym, thank you so much for letting us know. I don't have kids, but this has got to be toughest kind of hell to go through.

It's so good to see you back, too!

Ahem.
Sorry.
I left out some vital info, as i've been reminded. (Some people are damn fast on that pm button! ;) )

To find lilfrk's email addy, please
1. do a SEARCH for her nick
2. find a post by her
3. then click on the email link at the base of the post

(She's got a post halfway down the first page.)

...and it doesn't matter if you don't know her well, either. What matters is that she feels our support for her and her family at this incredibly hard time.

You're right, Chele, being powerless to help one's child is the worst kind of hell for a parent. It's a violation of our highest, purest duty, that of protecting our child from real harm.

lilfrk's girl is extremely ill. Seriously ill. And no one know what's wrong, either, not yet, not after three long days in the hospital of testing and poking with needles and waiting for results and more testing. lilfrk is having horrible "what if she doesn't make it?" thoughts cloud into her mind, and "how will i be able to survive if she doesn't?" questions plauging her sleep. It's an intensely difficult time for her.

Please send a small "thinking of you" her way.
It will help.

I knew she could count on you guys.

There's no more tenderly caring or bigger-hearted group of people anywhere on the net then what we have right here.

One already gone!

(And sorry I was so quick on the ol' PM's! :D

Ohhhhhhhhh and love the new AV!)

update...

lilfrk's daughter has been moved to a larger hospital in a more urban area for more tests. There is still no diagnosis and the girl remains quite sick. lilfrk and her Man are very upset.
:(

~last bump for the very late night/early morning crowd (at least from the perspective of this US Pacific coaster) before i stagger off to bed~

thank-you CYM..

I will send her one from Artful and I as well.I'm a mother also and ca think of no greater hurt....

I just sent my email.
And thanks, cym, for the heads-up. We might never have known what they're going through right now, and when everything heads for the crapper it never hurts to know there are people who care about you. I'm glad we got the chance to show lilfrk (and, also very recently, Dusty) a little support in a difficult time.

Thank you for the update, cym.

Done and done.

Kinda sucks, that we are so frequently handed opportunities to prove our caring and support, though it's good that we have them.

No further news but i'm going to call her in an hour or so (don't want to call too early - i know they're not sleeping well in those parts) so will update this thread then.

GOOD NEWS!

I just spoke with lilfrk on the phone.
(I woke her up. ~chagrined~ I really didn't want to do that.)

Her daughter had a turning point last night.
Stopped the endless puking.
Started eating.

The docs said, "It was a virulent virus and it's run its course."

The docs said, "She can go home on Sunday."

So, they're going home. All of them.
The girl is weak and still sick - but not *that* sick - and she's eating. For the first time in over a week, she's eating - and keeping it down.

So.
T'was some kinda strange, digestive system-only virus.
And all will be well.

lilfrk hasn't been home in days and hasn't yet seen her email. I told her she should check it. She said she would - after she takes a shower in her own bathroom with her own personal care products. After she shaves her legs. After she pets her cat. After she walks around and shakes off the fragile, exposed, hideously vunerable feeling we're prey to when our child has been so ill.

Then y'all will make her cry, i think.

You're good eggs.
From me, for her, thank you for your kindness.
