Yuck!

I know are folks out there like breastfeeding stories. I even wrote one, once.
But I think the above link takes it just a bit too far.

Dunno which is sadder, the mother who's weaned her baby prematurely (isn't 6 months or so reckoned optimum?) and isn't feeding her pup properly (milk from a different species doesn't hve the right nutrient-mix), or Reuters, for making capital out of the mother's ignorance.

SAD!

Actually WHO recommends 2 years and American Pediatrics recomends 1 year min.

Right china-doll. And that recommendation from the WHO is the minimum. The AAP recommendation says a year minimum and however long the mom and baby are comfortable continuing thereafter. Interestingly, the Pope even says a minimum of two years is recommended and though I'm not Catholic and the Pope and I disagree on lots of issues, I have to say I agree with him.

OK, I haven't read the story yet, so I'll refrain from saying more for now.

Edited to say...
Why the hell isn't she still nursing her two month old?!?!?! For fuck's sake, it makes no sense. Ohhhh! People annoy the piss out of me today.

Exactly! She's a poor ignorant twat who doesn't know her kid from her puppy (or, presumably, her arse from her elbow) - and Reuters are making capital out of it.

The former makes me weep, while the latter almost seems to me to justify post-natal abortion!

Gotta agree with you again Eff. Milk is very species specific. Human milk is high in fat and sugars but low in protein so our babies need to be fed very frequently (like a minimum of every two hours for newborns) while canine milk is higher in protein but low in sugar because in the wild mamadog has to be able to leave her litter to hunt. No one is winning in this situation.

And since I'm ranting all ready, I hope no one minds if I continue for just a moment. If her baby truly can't nurse, she should be pumping her milk and feeding via a bottle or other means. If for whatever reason that is simply not possible, she should be pumping that LIQUID GOLD and donating it to a milk bank where it can go to a baby who's family is truly concerned about feeding it the very best possible food.

Fuckity fuckerson, I'm all in over this one! Think I need a beer!

Well, I decided to skip the beer and go for milk and cookies. Is that close enough?;)
As long as the cookies had chocolate, I'll forgive you...

Eff :D
