so what kind of cruel trick has life played on you?

did you find out that the person you lusted after in high school wanted you just as badly and now that you both know one or both of you is unavailable?

did you win have a financial windfall just before finding out a close relative needed an expensive, life-saving surgery?

was that tattoo you've debated about getting for five years done by an artist who gave you hepatitis? (i originally left out that last "i"... hepatits doesn't sound too appealing either)

if you have an unfortunate twist of fate (humorous or not) feel free to share.

It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi...

Michael, is that you?

Oh yeah, I got a flipping list...

* A diet of candy, cake and ice cream isn't so good for the human body.

* We can put a man on the moon, build a space station but we still can't figure out why a diet of candy, cake and nice cream isn't good for the human body.

* White flour... ditto on the above. Why must pasta be scorned?

* Potatoes... ditto. Why must McDonald's have THE best french fries and be within 5 miles of my home?

* Why must my mind never turn off? I suppose I should ask the same of my mouth but tough, the mind needs the fix more at the moment.

* Just when things were gettin' good it all went to hell.

I LOVE you!

LOL!

That's one of my favorite movie lines there.

I don't really believe in fate but I can't help but question the circumstances of life sometimes.

We just went through a terrible ice storm. Tens of thousands of people without power. Hotels and motels are packed. We were only out for 2 nights. Many are still without power. Our crews from the electric company have been working around the clock to restore as many customers as they can.

One of the guys from a town South of us, left his wife with a generator to keep things warm in their home and came our way to help the line crews. After working through the night he returned home to find her dead of carbon monoxide poisoning. The generator was out in the garage but apparently when she went out to refuel it, she was overcome by it and died.

Seems so unfair, but then whoever said life is fair.

Actually, yes. She's told me that she liked me throughout highschool (from freshman year on), but she always had a boyfriend. She even told me that she would often think of me as the ideal. In college (we went seperate ways at this point) apparently she even fantasized about running away with me. Meanwhile, I never said anything because I wouldn't make a play for a girl with a boyfriend.

All of highschool was like that. I found out much later how highly regarded I was at the time, but had no clue and didn't think any of the girls liked me.

But outside of love, I can't say that life has been very unfair to me. Sure there have been at least one very cruel irony, but there have also been incredibly nice ironies. My favorite irony is going to be when I am a hundred and ten years old and get hit by a bus.

I thought I was the only one with this problem. Well, not really, but sometimes it seems that way. Sometimes it feels like there are two parts to my brain, one that acts like everyone else, and another that stays on. In college I did what most red-blooded men end up doing: getting sick on alcohol. But even at my most drunk there was this sober part of me that kept listening to the conversations, even when people thought I was passed out. Sometimes when I "fall asleep" I am still thinking, although time passes funny (this was proven out when I was tested for sleep apnea and they said I slept most of the night when I said I was awake the whole night).

By the way, I also agree about the food stuff. Did you ever hear Bill Cosby's bit on Chocolate cake for breakfast? Hilarious!

i don't have one for me but one of my friends was dating a very nice boy (he called me lady and everything lol even if it was after a creepy game character). she is attractive but could be more attractive (not a model). well it was almost senior prom and he hadn't called her in like a month. So she went with one of our girlfriends as her "date." he then became known as (because we're Harry potter fanatics) He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named.....

he was talking to her online a few months later but before she had the chance to ream him a new one he told her that he'd found someone new

now not only is this unfair because she is such a sweety, you expect it to be another more beautiful woman right?

Wrong...........

He discovered he was gay... and while he really did like her he just wanted to be her friend.... they talk occasionally but they are now basically back to 'the person you say hi to on the street' kinda friendship.... Her favorite phrase is, "all the good hott men are gay, married, or both!"

so i think that's a little unfair.... he left her for another guy and never told her. he could have at least told her he wasn't going to the prom with her....

That's really unlucky..

I know on my hand-in date for 2 assignments at the end of last semester, I had to leave one of my classes early to print them off. I went to the university computer room, and needed to download my documents from gmail and print them. Internet Explorer crashed three times, and then, with 20 documents queued from various people, there was a paper jam. Luckily, I didn't get marked down, I don't think..
