I was sitting here last night at my computer looking over the new posts on the board, when a thought hit me.

I wondered if cym was checking in occassionally... looking and watching... as any mother might. Afterall, this forum is her baby. She made it happen for all of us.

I was wondering what she would think about the different posts... you know the ones where new people come in and haven't yet realized that this is not a chat room and they don't have to follow all that protocol, before they have realized that they can just be themselves here....

I wondered if she knew what she had a hand in creating... and how this forum has grown and continues to grow. This forum has a life of its own now... growing by leaps and bounds as new people discover us.

I am awestruck at where this forum is today. So much more than I ever dreamed it might be... but not cym... she has vision...

Oh cellis!
No.
I had no real underlying vision except a determination to carve out a small place of sanity for us to talk amongst ourselves. I simply got the words into a post just before Risia or WD or Hecate or Wizard or mg5 or anyone else that was here at the beginning. We'd been coming together as a community at Lit for awhile before i decided rather defiantly to move my small bit o' BDSM business out of the GB (where we'd been under attack for months over terminology, mostly) and start a little BDSM thread on the How To... board.

And then it took off.

It took off because there was already a core of us, a nucleus, and a cadre at the ready. We already knew who the other BDSM'ers at Lit were and a little about why each of us drifted over to post on the BDSM thread instead of keeping on fighting the good fight in the GB. We were primed, all of us, for the creation of a small community, a place of safety for us to talk over our concerns without being hounded for using GB-forbidden words like "nilla".

I simply posted the first post.
The others were right there, too.
It could have been any of them.
And then more came, too. More like you, darlin', who discovered us when we were a single thread - and stayed, growing us stronger with every passing day.

It is due to all of us, and those who continue to come, that we continue to grow strong. Any vision is ours, is shared equally among those of us who have done so much talking over these many months about where we wanted this community to go, and in what directions, and what we didn't want to become.

Thank you for your open-hearted comments, cellis, but i think the affect and measure of each of us as an individual contributor to this place, each of us as a building block, is far, far greater then any of us singly.
:rose:

(BTW, i checked in here on a couple occasions but while i was gone, i was really gone. It was wonderful. I'm renewed and refreshed and relaxed, now. I most sincerely recommend an occasional lit-break for each of us.)
