Well it looks like the rebels have broken the resolve of the Libyan Army.

Good Luck with that Moammar.:)

TRIPOLI, Libya — Euphoric Libyan rebels raced into the capital Tripoli on Sunday and moved close to center with little resistance as Moammar Gadhafi's defenses collapsed and his regime appeared to be crumbling fast.

Associated Press reporters with the rebels said they moved easily from the western outskirts into the regime stronghold in a dramatic turning of the tides in the 6-month-old Libyan civil war. A rebel leader said the unit in charge of protecting Gadhafi and Tripoli had surrendered and joined the revolt, allowing the opposition force to move in freely.

Could be the end of Moammar draws near?

I don't believe he will be missed, but I hope his successor is not a gang of Muslim fanatics, as happened in Iran.

Who else do you think is there to take the reins. Who has come out in the last six months as a bit more palatable?

Enter the Muslim Brotherhood. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." ;)

This is the basis for the mistake in the Western powers going in in the first place. It was a mini version of the Iraq mistake. No better alternative was chosen and available beforehand. We make the mistake of assuming that just everyone would love to have American-style democracy and it will be the natural result of just freeing them. Tain't so here and hasn't been so most every other place we've tried it too.

I suspect we will have to wait to see what Libyan Democracy is going to be. MQ has been in power for forty years, I suspect that the next "Leader" will not last as long.

Yup Gadhafi about to go down and Obama is already lining up Syria next.

There is the winner of the nobel peace prize at his finest. Bigger warmonger than Bush ever was.

How do you like Egyptian "democracy" so far?

Oh, God, that what happens when you post these threads here, Jack. Some half-wit from the GB drops in.

I've never known a peace-loving president, Democrat or Republican. And both Obama and H. Clinton rattled rockets during the last campaign, so this is hardly a surprise.

But applying the "Hussein" behind-the-fan twitter to what the U.S. is doing in the Middle East? What a half-witted twit.

Half Twit-tered, as it were?

And about the 'Egyptian Democracy', we haven't seen it yet have we? Their revolution isn't over, Elections and the Military bending to civilian rule are still to be accomplished. But that's for them to accomplish.

So, don't hold your breath. Refer you to Iraq.

I hear the Iraqi's want us to stay after 2011. Pentagon is all a twitter, so many 'Birds' to be built on the occupation.

Another fine mess the National Security Club has gotten us into.

Looks like 2024 is when we will leave Afghanistan.

And every president we elect is atwitter about such things too. It must be in the White House water--no matter what party the president is from.

If it wasn't for the First Amendment's protection of speech, stupid or otherwise, Donald would be in jail, instead of just running for president.

“We are NATO,” Trump said. “We back NATO in terms of money and weapons, what do we get out of it? We have all of these rebels running around, beautiful name ‘rebels,’ are they from Iran, who is going to take over Libya, who’s going to take over the oil?”

That self-questioning prompted The Apprentice host to believe that America should reward itself for the events in Tripoli.

“So what do we get out of it, and why won’t we take over the oil?” he said. “Why aren’t we reimbursing? You know in the old days, when you win a war, you ‘kept to the victor, belongs the spoils.’”

Bigger warmonger than Bush ever was.
We're at war with Libya?

Really, Lovecraft, I know you got it from your namesake, but isn't this a tiny bit hyperbolic? I don't think Obama's "shocked and awed" anyone yet. We really should wait till he does before saying he's even on an equal footing with Bush, let alone more of a warmonger

There are several posters to the forum who make me instantly think of Donald Trump when I read their posts.

The free entertainment provided by the wannabe junior Metternich is alone worth the price of admission.

It's one more instance in a long history of a blowhard phony blabbing a lot and saying absolutely nothing of any conceivable value or consequence.

Turns out all democracies have been very vulnerable to hijacking in their initial phases. Western democracies have been no different. Some were lucky and survived on the first try. Others have had to try again and again.

Libya and Egypt both have their vulnerabilities. All the others have, too.

Anyone else remember that Qaddahfi led a supposedly democratic revolution when he took over power?

PILOTS right. Too early for a victory lap. The liberators gotta fight over the oil for a while.
