I'm reading some books by Walter Lippman. Lippman was like the founder and god of modern liberal/progressive ideology. That is, he was throughout the Kennedy years. But now the Democrats are ruled by Stalinesque psychotics. Lippman warned of such regimes in his books. He said theyre inevitable because democracy decides nothing, special interests are the real government. He called democracy the central myth of liberals. Democracy is a mob, and cant be improved. A mob of black teens looting a Circle K is democracy as good as it gets or can be.

The problem with special interests is this: more than a few make a mob.

At the top the UN is a mob.

What works, though, are enlightened and benevolent princes.

Absolutely the best form of government but unsustainable. It never makes it to the next generation because the next little princes are inevitably spoiled entitled brats.

Because Americans are woefully ignorant of the actual government that has been agreed upon, they keep trying to elect "their" benevolent prince for this side or that. The prince is not supposed to have any power at all.

Lippman speaks of how reforms and revolutions are futile because of human nature. I have the same problem with weeds.

I'm surprised that you think they need to be benevolent James. William the Conquerer, Oliver Cromwell, Frederick the Great, Napoleon, George Washington, Cyrus - all great leaders - enlightened in their respective times yes, but benevolent? Not so much.

I don't say princes need be benevolent, Lippman said they do. I agree with him but I don't hold my breath waiting for them to come.

That is the difference between true liberals and socialist liberals. The former believes in human nature and factors it into the rational behind free trading and acting in our own self-interest and desire whereas the latter believes that we are born as a blank slate (tabla rasa) and that with an early enough intervention of the part of the state (via education) that human nature can be abrogated and society can be perfected. They regard their crusade as noble and guided by a higher purpose, therefore our objections to their benighted stewardship are to be fought viciously and without any quarter as if we were actually sent here into Eden by Satan himself just to bring it down.

;) ;)

You get a gold star :)

Anthony Daniels wrote of shopping in North Korea. He went to a mall, filled his basket with sundry shit (shaving cream, razors, etc) took it to the cashier who put a cheap plastic pen in a bag and kept all the stuff he wanted. He tried it again, this time with oranges, and got the pen! That's socialist liberalism.
