No longer live in fear that government spending will force them to have to eat Phil the groundhog, harbinger of Spring.
When Phil was asked how he felt about the news, he said "What the Hell do I have to worry about? People believed nothing wrong happened in the past eight years...then again, you believe an overstuffed rodent can predict the weather!"
He then bit the Mayor of Punxsutawny and scuttled back into his den.

Staten Island Chuck (aka: Charles G. Hogg) took a chunk out of NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg at the ceremony this morning.

Prolly one of those conservative groundhogs that hates liberals. LOL

They were known as 'Hoover Hogs' in the Depression and eaten fairly regularly.

Anything higher up on the personality chain than a chicken is automatically a pet. Where do armadillos rank?

The ranch cat was playing with one last trip to Texas. It was really charming to watch. Completely took away my appetite for giant sow bugs.

I can't imagine ever having a taste for those things. Do they taste like chicken?

My understanding is that "hoover hogs" taste more like pork, sort of the way porkypine is supposed to. I had a principal once who thought that wild pig tasted like possum or 'coon. Since I've never had either, I wouldn't know. 'Gator tastes like chicken and no where near as good as frog legs.

'Dillos are rather stolid creatures, comparable in personality to a tenured professor in the medieval studies department.

They are fun to watch, tho. They're like little tanks or wind-up toys. You pick one up and it's legs run in place. And brother, can they dig!

There's some connection between armadillos and leprosy but the resident microbiologist isn't being helpful tonight. I'll see what I can find.

Anyway, panzerschwein don't carry leprosy naturally but they have such a low body temperature that they can be used as laboratory animals to study it.

I've heard that before. I've never seen any documented proof tho.
