Sadly my only published work is an overlong and surprisingly sexually charged history of the toaster oven throughout history.
Inspired by the above quote from somewhere else... What historical retellings of the development of mundane objects might be fun to put a sexual spin on?

Evolution of laundry...

Ladies washing clothes at the lake together to washboards & tubs to washing machines and clotheslines/pins

The extra freetime as labor saving devices were invented

Vacuums, Mixers, food processors, dishwashers etc...
Whats a bored housewife to do with all that extra time? A bookclub with the other housewives maybe?

Sexual spin? I'm thinking of the evolution of mechanical devices, say the washing machine or the neck massager, into sex aids.

True story: the Graham Cracker was invented to curb sexual urges. There's got to be some good story potential in that factoid.

What were you supposed to do with it? Hold it between your thighs?
It was created by a preacher who was part of the temperance movement.
It was their belief that anything that made you feel good was a temptation by the devil. They attempted to stamp out masturbation, sugary food, and music, as part of their efforts to free people from anything stimulating.

And yes, whilst the temperance movement did accept the necessary evil of sex, they were the kinds of people to have sex fully clothed, with as minimal movement as possible.

Sounds like what happened with mid-twentieth-century married middle-class women connecting with one another and, a little later in the century, with lesbian feminist organizations (discretely). Talk about extra time.
Exactly what I was alluding too. It also led to the key swapping parties in the 70's. I mean how often can a guy bowl or watch M*A*S*H reruns.

Look up the villages in florida. The loofah code. These are people who are the right age to have participated in key parties. Some still do swing.

As for having no say, ever hear of "free use?" Very similar to the key party mindset.

I remember the "come as your are" parties my parents would have. Phone calls at odd times of the day and when you answered the phone, you had to go to the party that night as you were dressed when the phone rang. This was all back in the 50s. Of course I was already in bed by the time the party started.

I can't testify to any shenanigan's that went on, but there was a lot of moaning an groaning going on in the basement. And I always wondered why we had so many couches down there.
