maybe i need a thicker skin. i just needed a way to vent complete frustration and anger etc.
actually i could do with some advice anyone's around. feel free to pm me

ok i've calmed a little. here it is in a nutshell, still 'respecting' privacy.
a couple of days ago, another author saw the amount of postings i've logged up, suggested that it was time i did some writing and gave me a story outline to play around with.
it sounded interesting enough for me to have a go. after a day or so the author asked how the story was going and told me the name of one of the characters. then he told me that he'd been given a dare to see if he had the guts to get a female author to write the story.
now this particular story has possible racial and incestual tones and anyone knowing me would know that i would think very carefully before and during such a story.
i wouldn't mind if the person had been upfront and honest with me at the outset. what i have difficulty with is the underhanded way which i was 'used'.
suffice it to say, he wont be getting the story when it's complete, but i will work some more on it and i may submit it.
ok enough. to say i'm disappointed in him or anyone else who would use such means to achieve a bet is putting it mildly.
looking back, he did apologise to me.

I too think that is a despicable thing to do. Not forgetting it takes 2 to make a dare or bet!
If you are comfortable with the story use it if you are not stick it on disk and leave it for a while.

i've decided that i'm going to work on the story, bring it up to the best of my ability and submit it.
there were two making the bet, so he said. i have no idea who the other was, except that she is female.
suffice it to say, i have learnt my lesson and although i'll probably fall flat on my face again, at least i'll have asked a lot more questions.

What kind of sick puppy would ask such a thing of you? Of a human...let alone an author! There are certainly BETTER ways of pushing the limit to see what one is capable of, but to include you in on a SICK bet...that is the epitome of thoughtlessness and psychosis. Bet he wouldn't be so happy if someone like him got his mother or sister to write stuff like that!

i'd like to let you know how things have moved along to this point in time.
the author and i have managed to discuss a little better what happened and the way things happened.
he has explained his intention more fully to me. i have explained my opinion on the way the dare was set up and my concerns to him on such highly emotive topics. i believe we have managed to 'hear' each other with respect.
we have taken a step forward now. perhaps with what we've both learned we may end up with a story that's well thought out and worth reading.
as i said in a message to the author,
'i think it would be sensible if we started again and laid the initial beginning to rest. what we do from now on is what will count.'
so, i'd like to thank you all for your postings and support. it's a good feeling to know there are people around who care enough to comment.
