Lets us make a list of what we can do to make our country better. Lets talk about what we can do for americans instead of what we can take away from them or do to them.

My first suggestion is to do away with the health insurance companies in the healthcare plan and go to a single payer system where the doctors work for the government and the bills are paid by tax dollars.

We've tried that, and, while it does provide high-quality universal medical care, we've also created a whole class of quasi-civil servant managers who rake off a significant portion of our medical taxes. I doubt that the USA will ever get universal medical access, but if you do, learn from everyone else's mistakes.

single payer brings death panels in full force with it. Single payer guarantees a diminishing level of healthcare as you grow older. If you were EITHER smart, OR cared about your parents/grandparents, you wouldn't even suggest that disaster waiting to happen!!!

Watch that TV show called 'how its made', you seldom see a worker, it just goes from one machine to another. Soon the only jobs will be service sector at low wages or robotic repair and maintance. Where do you want to put all the workers that can't find work?

I know where you stand politically, and your friends on the Republican side would never vote the money to train workers anyway, so you are offering a weak solution to a big problem.

There is a small difference, Stella. Here, the managers get the same salary whether or not you get health care; with the insurance industry, the managers and, more importantly, the investors, get the money they don't spend on your health care.

Wait a second...Are you telling me that the insurance industry benefits if they decide not to cover the medical expenses of your terminally ill and elderly citizens? Thank God you don't have "death panels;" far better to leave your life in the hands of company accountants!

the government shouldnt be in my purse OR my bedroom. I dont need IT to tell me ru486 is good OR bad. If I want healthcare, I'll buy it. (i had an xray on a broken- i thought- wrist, cash price: 65$) I dont think the government should censor anything. i think marijuana should be legal. I think the taxes from the sale of pot should go to rehab anyone who wants rehab. The same for other drugs (xcept meth, which is too dangerous to make) I think that the states should be able to impeach (or at least censure) federal congressmen. The government should keep its nose out of religion, and religion should keep its nose out of government. nothing should be federally subsidized. And only things that have proven themselves dangerous should be federally regulated. There. If I think of anything else later, ill add it. Okay judgementalists, Judge Me.

Let me ask you a question. Lets say you are out for a walk and a man attacks you with a knife and threatens to cut your throat if you don't give him all your money. You are faced with a life or death situation so maybe you give him your money or you die.

Now lets say that you didn't give the man your money and he stabbed you in the chest and you're dying. They take you to the ER and the doctor says who's paying the bill. You have no insurance and the other guy took all your money. So the doctor says that he can't help you.

What is the difference between the doctor and the thief, one will cut you if you don't give him all you have and the other won't cut into you if you don't give him all the money you have?

Every ER has a person whose job is to find out who is paying before service is rendered, that is the real death panel and the only one you will ever have to face. If we had a national healthcare system you wouldn't have to worry about that person because everybody would know that the government would pay the bill.

Lets face it we waste a lot of money in our country, we drop million dollar bombs on mud huts, but we will not help the sick. We lock up harmless dope users at the cost of thirty thousand a year per person and we have more of them in jail than the next four countries combined.

What would be wrong with giving american access to medical help when they need it instead of wasting our money on these stupid things we are doing now?

oh, I dont disagree that the govenment spends A LOT of money on stupid things that it shouldn't spend money on. bUT, I don't trust any onoe in washington to give me healthcare, or at least to CARE what's in My best interest.
