You've decided for whatever reason you've posted your last story here.

What do you think you'd be known for? A series? A specific story? A certain stat?

Along the same lines, what would you want to be known for as opposed to what you think readers would remember(if its a different answer)

Well, unless I can get past this slump, I kind of have written my last. If I'm remembered at all, I think it would be for my versatility and variety of story types and categories. What I'd like to be remembered for is my realistic dialogue but it probably impresses me more than anyone who actually reads it.

That's a timely question for me, because I have more or less decided not to post any more stories here. I'm not sure I've been here long enough to have made a huge impression or to be remembered. The story I came here to post, "Trabbian Justice", was actually quite well-received, judging by the comments, and a few people took my suggestion to look for the remainder of my works (which is a couple of dozen novellas) elsewhere, for which I am very grateful.

I honestly don't see what purpose running through my catalogue of old stories here would serve, especially since some chapters may or may not fly depending on the whim of those who decide such things and I definitely don't want to start something here with no assurance of being able to finish it.

I'm not sure how much more I want to write in the genre on any site. I have no desire to write the same story over and over again. If I can't do something different from the usual or at least a different twist on an old scenario, then I'd rather just rest on my Laurels (pun intended). I honestly feel I have achieved that with many of my stories (including the one I wrote for Lit, "Dear Steve: I Just Fucked Your Wife") but I'm not feeling inspired right now.

I have expressed some complaints about this site, but there are many positives as well-a big selection of stories and some very good people. I can't necessarily agree that it's the best site, but it certainly is far from the worst. If it works for you, that's great.

But I never say never, so you never know. And not posting stories doesn't mean I can't add my two cents here.

Best New Year wishes to all.

I'd probably be known for my mom-son incest stories, and in particular Late Night On The Loveseat With Mom, which is working its way up the most favorited story list and currently is number 73. It gets far more views than any other story I've written. It's a silly story, not exactly a magnum opus, but if I were to stop writing right now and were to be known for any one thing here, that's probably it.

But if I could choose, I'd hope I'd be known for a certain attitude toward erotica, which is sex-positive, supportive of pushing boundaries, challenging taboos, and often whimsical and somewhat tongue-in-cheek. My attitude is that this should be fun. I'm solidly in the corner of believing that people should feel free and safe to explore their fantasies here, even if they're kind of weird, over-the-top, or transgressive, and I hope my stories reflect that perspective.

Fortunately, I don't have to choose, and I plan to write many more stories at Literotica. I'm really terrible about plans and deadlines, but I have at least 30 story projects that I wish to complete eventually, and I'm sure I will have more. So, the legacy still is a work in progress.

Honestly?

I'm not sure. Most of my feedback comes from my SF story series, which gets the smallest number of views. So I think there are about 2k readers who would wonder why I left them hanging.

But I doubt very many others would care. And to be honest, if I'd decided to leave the site, I don't think I'd care all that much either. It would take something significant to make me stop writing, and it would probably be significant enough that I'd want a clean break.

Probably not my stories, but the posts I've made here on the BB, and the very interesting discussions I've had with fellow Litsters.

Apparently anything I post is going to be erased by mods now even though nothing I am saying violates their rules!

Don't be salty. Some of us tried to politely let you know what was up. The tenor of your prior posts suggests you should take these erasures as a mark of pride, the price paid by noble iconoclasts.

No?

You complained about your thread being "hijacked" but this is off topic for Lovecraft's thread...

You will certainly be remembered here, though probably not for your poetry...

I'll probably leave Lit when I die.

I would like some of my stories to be remembered - not all. Some are crap.

Dark would be Danica and SOTM. I sincerely hope it won't be partially because SOTM doesn't get completed.

( Coincidently, should I suddenly fucking snuff it, consider this official permission for anyone to pick up that story and finish it, or play in the world once I'm gone. There's plans in place to make that clear posthumously, and any warning would cause me to do it myself, but you never know if that sort of thing will get fully executed. )

I honestly hope my part in the Laresa chain stands the test of time as well. That was an incredible collaboration that produced a supremely satisfying story. It more or less made me by associating me with the other talented authors in the chain.

And LST3K. I do love that series.

And To Catch a Merchant Princess. I still think that's some of my best work, which I read back through regularly.

Les would probably be Magic of the Wood, and that's what I prefer as a legacy as well. I love those stories.

There's nothing legacy-worthy as RR by design. Probably will only be remembered for the puns in the titles. Maybe Nude Holly Day by accident since I went ahead and posted that as RR when it really should have been reassigned to Les because it got too deep. LOL

Don't we all have at least one of those? :D I've had more than one that I cringe about. And the more we write, the more we post, the higher the likelihood that count will rise.

But on to the OP's questions. What would I be remembered for? It depends on who's doing the remembering. I would hope it was for my stories, but knowing the small amount of people that have read mine, I doubt it. It might be for my longevity here (20 years and counting). It might be for my posts on the PB. Some might agree and remember them while other's, I'm sure, would like the swirling mists of the interweb ether to consume me and be ecstatic when it does.

That said I'll return to my hope, that it's for one of my stories, that whom ever read them were entertained and think back to that from time to time.

Comshaw

Honestly, I have no idea what I'll be remembered for. With around 800 followers, there won't be too many people mourning my disappearance. I'll probably be more remembered as a music nerd here in the forum than a masterful crafter of words.

That said, I'd love to be remembered as someone who can craft compelling Sci-Fi and Fantasy stories. "Express Delivery" has been my greatest success in that regard and if that's the peak of my writing career, so be it.

@Loqui: Don't stress yourself. Inspiration can strike any time. Just make sure your laptop batteries are always charged so you can act upon it. I'd dearly love to see another Cyberpunk story from you, with or without the 2020 branding. There was a lot of awesome stuff in the Ritz two-parter I'd never thought of - and your faerieland adventure was damn epic as well. It would be a shame if you'd throw in the towel completely. Just allow yourself an extended hiatus and rise again, with better, badder stories to tell.

There will be a Valentine story but after that my focus is on the books I've got in the marketplace.

What would I like to be remembered for? Go read the comment section on Fido. That says it all!;)

I learned from working with people who felt they were indispensable to the company and chose to leave and were certain, dead bone certain, that those of us left behind would flounder and crash and burn without them. And shortly after we had to remind each other who the hell ‘that guy’ had been.

So… I know I’m far from indispensable here. Hell, possibly almost as dispensable as it gets.

One thing, right now I have series and stories with plenty of loose ends. Some intentionally as ongoing series and others as part of my shared and open-ended universes. I’d hope to complete the intentional series before I disappeared. If not, clearly that’d be noticed by masses of readers… like… ten maybe.

I might be remembered for a few stories, but not sure by whom. But maybe. But probably not.

Well, I have even fewer followers at a tad over 500, so I'll probably not be missed much. But I've gotten a number of comments regarding the quality of my character development, so maybe that.

It’s sixteen months since I submitted my last story and I think it may very well have been my last. Since then I’ve begun several stories but got so far with them and then stopped. Not because I’ve run out of words or ideas but because I’ve no interest in pursuing the story. It was about that time I realised a close friendship had ended and my inclination to put my imagination into words disappeared.

What do I think I’d be known for? I assume this means how will I be remembered as a writer? I have no illusions. I don’t think any of my stories are outstanding. I certainly won’t be remembered as a towering rock on a beach of pebbles.

What would I want to be remembered for? I think, firstly, I’d like to be remembered for making what were considered constructive and helpful comments on other writers stories. I tend to only venture very rarely from this forum and so, secondly, hopefully people will remember me as someone who, generally, used to make sensible comments.

But I don’t think I’ll be remembered at all. It’s just possible, but improbable, that someone will, a few months after I’ve disappeared, ask on here “anyone know what’s happened to Emirus?” But I doubt it. I think “whatever happened to him/her” is a question which would be rarely asked of those contributors to the AH who are much more prolific than myself.

LOL. "Peyton Who? No idea who that was."

I'd like to think I build engaging, realistic relationships between characters the reader can empathize with. Stroke stories are awesome and I've read a bunch but for my own writing, I like the sex to be a product of the relationship. So maybe that.

With dozens of new stories posted every day and new authors popping up, if a week goes by with me not posting to these forums or posting a new story, no one will notice.

If I wanted anyone to remember me here, it would be for introducing them to a new lifestyle. But that would require them to read and reflect on all of a ten-chapter series, which is unlikely among authors focused on their own stories.

LOL. That'sssssss a toughie. Hmmmmmm. Chinese girls and First Time? Eggs? Actually, not the eggs. I'd go with stories about Chinese girls and first times....

What would I want to be known for? Hot stories about innocent chinese virgins losing it :D

Realistically? Most likely will just fade away.

A couple/few stories are/were on the toplists so if anything it would probably be my Marion series, which was an entertaining bit of a “lather, rinse, repeat” experiment.

As the author of well written stories and poems across a fair range of topics and styles.

But, that’s not up to me. :)

On the story side, I think readers would miss my distinctive style of incest stories - sweet, romantic slow-burns with smoking hot sex scenes. On the AH side, I'd be remembered for my statistics posts.

One word I truly love is "pulchritude". I actually took Latin in high school as well as in college and that is why I'm aware of the word. I've applied it frequently throughout my submissions but without any reaction from readers. Then again, I don't seem to attract very much in the way of comments generally in any case. I did come across one other author who utilized the word in his story. So naturally I listed him as a favorite.

If I left tomorrow I probably would not be missed. That being said, my most successful story is the "Deep Undercover" series, but that was nearly a decade ago. Since then my output has been infrequent.

I would like to be remembered for the "Queen of Sorrows" series, but I for that to happen I would have to finish it, which just might happen sometime before GRRM finishes ASOIAF.
