Let's get a little bit more complex than what we have.

I think that if we did a kind of Brokeback Mountain for lesbians, it would go over pretty well. Just a thought. Something with a story, plot, characters and not characatures, a setting, a climax (not the sexual kind), and less emphasis on the pure bump n' grind. We might not be on the fringes of literary society that way.

As someone who majored in English I'm all for literary value, complex tight plot construction, good character development, and one you missed, deep worldbuilding. But I have to say Brokeback Mountain is a terrible example. It definitely does not have strong characterization, it has a very simple plot, and I have no idea why anyone chose it to make a movie out of.

Two words: Gay Men

That alone is your answer to why it's a movie, anything else rather becomes secondary, though why they didn't outright scream it in the adds is beyond me. Would have done better I think cause then you would get nuts picketing and causing a general uproar.

Pfft. But there are so many better gay romance stories they could have chosen to make a movie out of! :/ If you look at non-american gay male movies there are some way better ones. Ai no Kusabi 1 and 2 for example - still unfortunately tragic (I persoanlly hate tragedy), science-fiction instead of cowboy, the two OAVs together are about the same length as brokeback, but it's just MUCH better!

Didn't say it was the best choice, just the best one they found that they could produce and not offend half the country. One of those stupid things of let's find us a gay man story, but we can't offend to many people or all of our movies will do badly in the movies for a few years.

So... does anybody have an analysis of what would improve exitsting erotica, or any kind of soncrete suggestion? Maybe if we did a study like Vladamir Propp's Morphology of the Folktale, only for erotica, we would discover some interesting psychological principles of arousal.

The question is, with the readership of literotica, is complexity really whats being looked for? Most of the people who read the stories here (and I'm just going from my personal feedback) are using it for wank material, not literary breadth.

JM2C but does it matter if most of the people here are looking for stroke material?

I think highbrow, for lack of a better term, erotica would certainly have a following here. Some of my favorite stories here are those that have a good plot, strong characters, and vivid world building.

It might only have a small following at first, but I'm sure it's popularity would grow with time. Look at erotica as a genre as an example. In the last five to seven years it has exploded on the internet through e-publishers and now, mainstream MAJOR print houses are looking for quality erotica writers.

I say go for it.

Bi I want your readers, alot of the feedback I got was saying it needed to be longer.

Course I had many talking about how hard they got and how much they shot, one even told me how far, and well let's just say I like those.

Well, actually, about 50% of my feedback is propositions...So, I doubt you'd want it. :D

Hmmm, your right, I'd prefer to avoid those, it's a little odd I've not gotten many, well really none, I had a couple feeler questions but nothing else. You know I should check my profile, I don't remember if I said attached or not.
