I think it's time for an overhaul. The system isn't working.

It seems to me that most Americans are actually moderates, and are feeling forced to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich* tomorrow. Yet the two main parties move farther and farther toward the extremes.

No, I'm not going to tell you to vote for some third party asshat. I think the whole system needs overhaul. Somebody (Twain maybe?) once said "Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results." It doesn't matter who you vote for. Neither candidate can fix the economy; neither can make sure that everyone has access to food, shelter, health care, or whatever; nor can they end poverty, engineer peace, close the achievement gap, find a cure for cancer, or fix the damage left by the superstorm.

So let's ditch the whole concept of the United States of America and start over with something new.

*yes, that is a South Park reference.

So your peacefull solution is to start cutting people's heads off?

Absolutely! We should institute the glorious system of Juche!

MY SOUL BLEEDS FOR PYONGYANG!

see i kinda view this as a typical government (read: wasteful) solution.

instead of sharpening their pencils and doing the math to fix the problem, too many people want to have grand, sweeping fixes which are enormous and costly and untried, and therefore risky.
such was the case with obamacare. it could've been done in shorter, faster, cheaper, more efficient strokes by simply fixing medicare's fraud and revamping it's program.

same thing with homeland security. we already had the DOD, so why not amend that in a minor way, why create a whole huge new entity?

nobody wants to pop the hood and get dirty. easier to just get the new car, and leave the old one in the yard.

All that stuff costs a lot of money. If you haven't heard, we're have a small cash flow issue.

A valid point, but some cars are just too damaged to be fixed. Or were fundamentally unsound in the first place, which is how I feel about the very concept of the U.S. - we are either one single country or 50 separate countries, but this idea of individual states with their own governments which also fall under the umbrella of a larger government was just dumb from the get-go. IMO.

Are you being serious? You wan't the federal government to control everything? No governors, state legislatures or local governments? I'm hoping this is a joke.

It's quite brilliant. It remains a constant struggle so neither the States nor the Fed can can gain total control, yet they know they must work together to survive, something Europe never learned/achieved.

Not at all. I want a TOTAL overhaul. The US is way too big and way too diverse to be a single entity. What is relevant to Alaskans is not relevant to Floridians. I don't like the current state structure, either.

It's kinda like communism: good in theory, a miserable failure in practice.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were advocating some Orwellian system of government! Yeah, we need more power given to local governments.

I think you may be on to something, however we ought to enforce the Constitution and the Laws, first and see if the System is flawed, or the operators?

Perhaps if the SEC was on the hook, so that if the Economy fails, they step up to the guillotine. Or if the DHS was set up so that, if there was a homeland terrorist attack, the Head of the DHS, was, stepping up to the guillotine?

I mean real consequences, instead of being shunted off to the rubber chicken circuit to lecture about how hard it is to be a braham?

Or holding Rumsfeld accountable for the cost of the Iraq War, over the $200 billion he estimated it would cost?

Or how about holding Chaney responsible for the 100,000 Iraqi deaths, because of his Neo-Con Zionisim?

Or Paulson, for not demanding equity shares in exchange for the TARP bailouts?

Democrats are generally incapable of the perfidy that demands the guillotine.

I thought that said bring back the Guillaume.

I thought we were invar a good steady night of fun.
