I thought this might pretty up your day a little bit. Of course, if you're not a baseball fan, you might not know that the Kansas City Royals are going to their first world series in 29 years. We've been to only two and won one of them, if I remember correctly.
And, if you didn't know, Kansas City is known as the city of fountains. It's said we have over 200 fountains, second only to Rome. It's also said that Kansas City has the most working fountains in the world. I'm not sure of any of these numbers. I leave it up to the marketing people to boast about that.
Anyway, years ago, a trend was started to put colored dye in all of the city's fountains when one of our sports teams was doing well. On red Friday, all fountains are dyed red for the Chiefs. On opening day of baseball season, they are dyed blue.
This time around, all of the fountains have been dyed blue ever since we won the AL championship and with the series beginning Monday evening, they will be blue for the duration of that. If we win the series, who knows how long they will be blue. It might be a good investment to put your money in blue dye, at least for a short while.
Below is a link to some of the city's many fountains and how they look with blue dye. The city is full of fountains and they are all blue. It's really quite a sight to see.
I hope this brightens up any blues you might be having in your day. Check out some of the city of fountains pictures on a normal day.
And here is Union Station bathed in blue. Below are some of the fountains dyed blue. Let the blues take your blues away, compliments of Kansas City and the Royals.
Kansas City with its October colors.
