Since this thread's inception I have of late found the answer: there isn't one.

You really don't know what will or will not appeal to any number of people who happen by at any particular time who might be in any given mood or general condition. Experimentation has shown what I knew to be true all along, and even when you hear others declare what is true, it means more if you discover it for yourself.

So the only right way to anything is the way that works, which you can't know until you try it, and even then you can't be certain that the results are reliable. So what can you go by? Nothing definite. Which really makes life an incredible adventure.
