happy endings are good endings. That isnt the boat that those women sailed around the world on, and then left for scrap somewhere is it? it was mentioned on BBC a few weeks back.

I think you refer to Tracy Edwards and the boat she acquired to compete in the Whitbread round the world yacht race in 1989 as the first all-women team. She had to go to the ragheads for sponsorship because the Chelsea Chinless didn't think a woman's crew could manage it but they came second in class. Teams don't own boats generally and Maiden, as she was known, had to be sold to pay off debts after the race.

In 2014 the boat was discovered in poor repair in the Indian Ocean and she started a charity to restore the boat with the aim using it to raise awareness and funds for girls education round the world.

She done writ a book on it - you shud muss up and here's a vid
