My EC entries weren't well received either, except the first on I wrote and it has an fairly plain title "Michelle Ch. 01" it got 21000 reads, go figure. The next three chapters were placed in the Illustrated section and got tons of reads, then the rest went back to EC and the reads took a nose dive, under 7000.

My advice is don't have two stories go up on the same day, especially if one is EC.

A nice little piece I wrote went up on the same day as my Halloween story. Currently it has the fewest votes and comment of all my works.

It is my highest rated EC story though. Go figure.

I just checked, and I have four stories in the EC category. I don't know what a 'typical' number of votes is, but for my story 'Kate' (Ch. 3) posted September 2000 I now have 143 votes, 23638 views. No PCs. In contrast, 'Releasing Rhonda', posted August 2005 has 142 votes, 9768 views and 7 PCs. Perhaps in the interim I managed to garner a few fans. I hope!

However, my 'most-voted-on' story is also in the EC category. 'A date for the Prom' has now managed to collect 1164 votes since posting in March 2002, along with 145286 views and 4 PCs. It seems to pick up a vote or so about every month, which is nice.

Not surprisingly, my 'second-most-voted-on' story is in Incest/Taboo! 'One naiad, reprting for duty' has 949 votes, 143720 views, 5 PCs. My 'most-viewed' story is also Incest/Taboo. 'Karen' has 597 votes, 315445 views, 5 PCs.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason in terms of title, as the plainly-named 'Karen' certainly has a lot of views, as does a rewrite of the same story (Yes, I left both up!) with 561 votes, 208184 views, 6 PCs.

If you want few votes, few views, forget EC - write 'Chain'! 'Magic in America: Long Walker' posted April 2005 - 34 votes, 6495 views, 3 PCs (and I'm quite proud of it!) 'Talisman Ch 4: Lucy McFey' posted July 2002 did better. 112 votes, 29119 views, 2 PCs.

I have learned not to put something into Illustrated unless you have several explicit images. One G rated one won't cut it.

Except, you can't put explicit images in stories anymore. Boobs are as explicit as you can get and get it approved. You can't do anything that even has a hint of pussy lips or anything in that area, so even thong ass shots get rejected. Obviously, the readers aren't quite aware of this because they still complain about photos that aren't "bare" enough.

I tend to think that the readers are far less aware of things then we as authors believe because I have been hammered just like you have in different categories... readers asking for different things that we KNOW are big NO-NOs for Lit

heck I had a guy that read my incest stories send me feedback wanting me to write stories for Lit about young (under 16) girls and way older men, I sent him the rules about no underaged sex and he said that I just didn't want to write it that I was using the rules to get away with not writing what he wanted
