Hello, my name is Bryan, and I need some advice. I'm a 19 year old alternative model. However, lately people have been noticing that my arms and belly are a lot more toned then they were when I just started modeling, and getting to look too masculine (bad for my career, and I dislike it). What I need to know is this: What's an effective way to slim down without gaining muscle? I'd rather not turn to diet pills or eating disorders.

you want to get untoned?
and you want to do it in a heathy fasion?

Get real.

I like Pilates. It keeps you in shape with long, lean muscle, but does not bulk you up.

Now, how about sharing some of your modeling pics with us? ;)

So you're saying I should stick to the good ol' fashioned finger up my thrroat... ;)

As for pics, here's one from a job a did recently.

during workouts(without weights),try to do more repetitions(basically building resistance instead of muscular mass),with less interval between series. This is the standard way to gain muscular tone(and definition),instead of just increasin mass.

Gain muscle is what I do NOT want to do.

Nice photo...

Drink lots of water... lots
eat no more that 300 caleries per meal
don't sleep on a full stomach
do streaching-cardio-pilates-ballet-yoga type thing

See a doctor... I am not one so this info may be bogus....

not really into guys but this is definately sexy.
As for the finger up your throat, wouldn't recommend it. Unless, of course, you fancy screwing up your metabolism in a big way, maybe even leading to permanent damage.

i was talking about gain muscular TONE,NOT muscular MASS..........exactly what you were askin for. There's a BIG difference.
With the former ,muscles get toned up and have definetion, with the other you just increase their size.

OK?

Ok, my apologies.

You make a beautiful woman. I'd love to see a pic of you in guy clothes. Usually guys who make pretty girls, make VERY hot guys.

Perhaps try doing more cardio and basically no muscular training work at all, especially if it's your arms they are concerned about. I'm a girl, so perhaps it works differently with our bodies, but when I don't work out for a while, my limbs become soft quickly, yet I manage to stay in pretty much good shape because you're still burning fat.

Cake helps, too, skinny minny. :p

Thankyou!
I'll make sure to post a pic of myself in a suit, in the pic section.

tone = residual tension, can be achieved by using heavier weights but doing a lot less volume, say only one or two sets of 5 or so(at 5 ot 6 rep maximum)

muscle is built primarily by using moderately high tension and a LOT of volume(fatigue causing levels) if you make sure never to get fatigued or sore but lift at high intensities, you will get a lot of tonus but you won't be giving any signals for growth.

High repetitions deplete your glycogen stores. They get replenished by even more and each molecule of glycogen brings with it 2 or 3 of water = puffy, bulky.
