What the heck does this even mean? The bulldyke working at Blockbuster was talking to my fiance for awhile earlier today and she said he was a "lesbian identified male" and seemed very excited about it.

I would have asked her but she scares me. He thought it was funny.

Maybe a transexual male who was born in a female body? I don't know if there are such people, but I know there are some who belive they are...

It sounds like it's either a lesbian trapped in a man's body or a heterosexual man who says that because he thinks it's funny.

The video shops in America appear to be very interesting places.
Not mine. Row after row of Disney and mediocrity.

My wife prefers to label herself queer, being attracted to individuals across the spectrum of gender identification, i.e. lesbian, bi-female TS, TG, TV, CD, bi-male, and male. So, what fancy label can I claim as a recreational CD bi-male married to a female "queer?" Better said, what unholy acts or fantasies need I do or have, respectively, to get my "Lesbian Identified Male" bumper sticker? :)

When you find out please forward to me....

A lesbian-identified man is a man who is a homosexual woman (i.e. lesbian) who was born with a male body and is not seeking gender reassignment surgery. Instead of female hormones and corrective surgery to help make the outside match her inside, she simply lives with the package she came wrapped in as a lesbian to the best her body will allow.

Ok I am lost...this makes sense if she looked like a man, but from the above post...she looks like a woman. ALthough, very butchie.

Maybe it is the same thing as a "Boi"?

I like those sassy girls. They walk softly and carry a big stick! :)

I still don't get it (?)

More explanations please so that I may get more confused. (If possible with pics).

So it's more of an emotional and personality type than an actual physical appearance? That actually kind of makes sense. Kind of like being who you are but not trying to change what you are to match it.

I would've guessed that it referred to a male who accepts lesbians as they are, interacts with them and treats them as human beings without judgment, rather than making fun of them, saying there is something wrong with a woman who 'doesn't like d--k', stereotyping them, or thinking that it is their mission to 'convert' them back to hetero status.

I think that's just someone who isn't an ignorant asshole.

The woman at the video store may have said that to your boyfriend simply because she thought he was sensitive like a woman - and he was with you - making him a lesbian.

Maybe I should shave him, put him in a dress and wig and take him to a lesbian bar, just to see if he can really pass. He'd be a seriously ugly woman though.

Have you taken a look at most lesbians? First, don't put him in a dress, put him in a flannel shirt and designer jeans. Forget the wig. Just keep his hair short. No need for makeup either. He should pass quite well.

FinestSilk is absolutely correct. there are indeed some people who identify themselves as a lesbian and yet continue living in the male body they were born with. trust me, i'm living with one. this is not a joke thing, it's a real label that a small percentage of people would feel applied to them.

Yikes! I certainly hope you were kidding about "most lesbians" looking like that! http://www.amanita.net/images/smilies/upside-down.gif

As for the original question, there was a recurring character in the first season of The L Word that was supposedly a lesbian male. I didn't understand it then, and I don't understand it now.

hmmmm then i think i know a gay Identified Female

well well well i learn something new everyday :)

Mmmm… Why don’t we hear of the opposite, a gay, as in homosexual male, identified woman?

Hm, I think than I could be a bisexual hermaphrodital identified male:
My body is male, and of that I'm totaly sure. That I'm not a woman in a male body I feel very sure about, too. But from everything I saw and heard there was ever only one man who had a mind like me. I ever thought women were wrong about men but getting older I discovered they were wrong about me, but more or less right about all other males.
I discovered that my mind seems to work in ways very often seen at females but I never saw at any other males.

Well, I like my body and feel fully comfortable with it but should I die and are offered to be born again in either a male or female body I would need no time to make the decission! :D
