Lengthy delay in releases

Virtually every site seems faster than this one: AO3, Lush, Tales After Dark, SOL, XNXX, etc. Maybe it's because they're not as big, but I notice that whatever other problems Lush may have, they have several people who approve (or reject) stories.
I can't post to Lush. Last time I checked (which admittedly was several years ago) they didn't allow any form of non-con, not even when it's obvious both characters are being pleasured. I also don't write fan fiction so I've never been able to post to AO3. T.T I do try to follow the rules of any site I post to. Sure hate it when the rules change. Inkitt and wrist are now the only places I can post my bestiality stories. I used to post to XNXX but I won't touch Blue Hell again.

Manu is still on board in some capacity. No outsider could come in and fix the login/story issue we had last week

Not sure if I missed some official statement about that, but the login/story issues from last week seemed to be a CDN issue, not a site issue. And unless they now operate their own CDN (which I doubt since, last time I checked, they used Bunny), it would have definitely been solved by an outsider.
Though, it could also have been a server issue. In which case it would have been solved by an outsider who works at the datacenter, unless they house their own server (which is ridiculous given the size of the site).

Since I have a non erotic story and a non erotic prose in the 'black hole of death' aka "Pending" since mid September, I decided to delete and then submit as new my non erotic prose. Hopefully it will finally post.

Duh.

And how much money are you losing each day your story is delayed?

'Nuther question ....

If you could pay for expedited posting, guaranteed next day as long as you submitted by a defined deadline time (6PM EST?), how much would you be willing to pay?

$1?

$5?

$10?

OK, lemme axe y'all a question .....

What are you paying to have your stuff posted here?

So we can't talk about this? Like at all? Like srsly? (eyeroll)

Yet another pedantic bullshit 'nothing you can do, so stfu!' argument. Mandated apathy. That's what that is. A terrible way to think. Nothing more.

It's worth talking about, my issue is how the clique here would belittle people and be rude to them when they came here with the audacity to ask what was going on, but now one of them has a problem so they are demanding it be addressed. Which makes me smirk and ask how does it feel? BTW, I'm not speaking of the OP, when they complain about something, people should listen. I'm talking about the ambulance chasers who practiced the mandated apathy until it hit home. Same thing with AI as soon as that problem bites them in the ass.

But fact is, this site has a long history of never addressing issues and eventually they end up resolved, again with no announcement of it. That's not going to change, and certain people now broadcasting it all over the site-and social media-are going to make it worse by instigating the situation and trying to be cute.

I still go with there being a glitch that is making these stories invisible in the file and Laurel doesn't see them to approve them. That's the problem, not laziness or the site picking and choosing. The more stories we have here the better for them. I know people who have deleted their story, resubmitted and it goes through which lends credence to the issue being a glitch.

I've made this suggestion here a few times, but I think it gets lost in the sea of redundancy here.

I feel bad for most people this is happening to, especially newer folks, but for others? Well, Karma and all that good stuff.

Actually, I seem to remember people actively discouraging authors from following that advice, instead of it getting lost. The line, as I think it went, was, "Don't do that, it will only put you back to the end of the queue, causing even more waiting time".
The consensus, until two days ago, was literally: There's only one or two people checking submissions, it takes time, and, unless you are an author who the powers-that-be LIKE to read, you'll just have to wait your turn. Only now, suddenly, there's talk about voluntary helpers and problems.

But as EM already said... they don't like it when people point that out.

Yea, I don't buy that argument. I mean, I don't profess to know how the inner guts of the site work, no one knows that (despite so many who talk like they do), but the argument not to take down stems from the fact that edited stories almost always get shunted to the back of the queue and take even longer to get approval, so don't edit. This much is true. But my advice is not to edit, but to delete altogether and re-submit to get back into the current queue. I highly doubt that the system is so complex that it will know that you have re-submitted the same work and hold your original place in limbo. When I say this, the consensus of the self-appointed brain trust around here is, and I quote, "Noooooo! Don't do that! Edits take even longer!"

(sigh)

Thankfully I've never had the need to try this. I've only had a couple of stories take more than a couple of days to publish, and none more than five days. If someone were to try this technique and get results with it, it would lend much credence to lc68's glitch theory.

That was the conventional wisdom. And it may be again. But for now, there seems to be some basis to a tech glitch of some kind.

If a story is stuck for 3, 4, 5 days, leave it be. If it goes beyond a couple of weeks, it may be worth resubmitting it.

And there's also voluminous evidence that you can break a >30 day logjam and get approved in hours by resubmitting.

I love how you guys talk about Laurel and Manu the way the Greeks talked about the gods of Mount Olympus. Every day, yall guess what they are or might be doing, and no one knows for sure. It’s so cute, and even after years of reading stories on Literotica, I still can’t believe that all the authors, readers, and day-to-day functions of the site rely on just two people.

BTW, FWIW, WRIST uses the same software as they use for these forums. Different colors, but the same system.

Blue Hell?

The default skin at XnXX is blue, which I think is fairly unique, and the color has become part of the identity.

They also seem to be rather afraid of SQL injection attacks, as they filter out words like script and select. Instead, you'll find words like pre***********ion (prescription), de***********ion (description), and ***********ion (selection). Of course, my favorite is *********** (script or select, usually). You get used to it, but it's a bit jarring at first.

Does XNXX do stories? I didn't know that.

Guidance from the site as per that 1 August update Laurel posted was wait 15 days in pending and DON'T touch it during that time.

I waited 7 days, deleted completely, resubmitted and it wnet thru in a couple of days. For what that's worth - and it was only 1 story.

I had this problem once, when I did an edit mid process of moderation. Make sure it's not sitting in draft status waiting for you to republish. I did this and it was then up in the normal two days.
