I think he has much to teach us and I would love to sit at his feet and listen to the stories he could tell.

I love reading his work.

I saw Studs Terkel speak when I was about 15, so about when he was 85. He was interesting, funny, balls-to-the-wall, and brilliant. Despite being a hard-left liberal, I don't base my politics on what Jon Stewart says, but nonetheless: As one of America's preeminent modern satirists, if Jon Stewart is in absolute awe of a guy like Studs (which he is), there's probably no better compliment for both of them.

(I saw Shelby Foote speak in the same auditorium at about the same age. RIP, Shelby.)

Yeah. A genuine icon. He took all the best qualities of Mickey Spillane and Dashel Hammett and poured them into a wonderful, well written and thought out column. He was the idol of my youth.
