Can anyone here tell me how the McCain-Feingold "Campaing Finance Reform" is NOT unconstitutional?

From everything I've read about it, it limits free speach of various people and organizations and doesn't really get the money out of politics. There HAS to be something good about it that I'm not hearing. But what about the free speech issue?

I don't have the whole text handy, but maybe I'll dig for it. I'm mostly going on what I've heard. But as you can imagine, many of my sources are Conservatives, so I was hoping someone here (well, mostly you, your wondertwin, or DCL) could shed some light for me.

Things I've heard about it:
  • It grants incumbents certain rights that it restricts for challengers
  • It forbids people/groups from saying things or buying commercial time to say things within the last 30 days of an election, but newspapers and other press can say whatever they want, whenever they want.

I'll look for more. I'd really like your opinion on the whole text of the bill just to hear the other side of things, or maybe to hear you agree with what I've heard.

Wow, you're good! Thanks, hon.

Okay, Lavy, you can take a few days and get back to me. LOL

I'd seriously appreciate your input about this. I just assumed that you'd have already read up on this for some reason.

You also might want to read the actual text, rather than take my paraphrasing of second-hand sources.

But thank you for looking into it at all, as much or as little time as you want to put into it.
