No son, its not lying its a literary device that poets use, they would never lie to you
then how come I can't attibute human quilities, etc., etc,. to non human things...

Back to metaphor or how we attribute human (or at least animate qualities to inanimate things) qualities to none human things. Evolutionary phsychologists claim it is a by-product of essential defence mechanisms. If a brain projects intent on objects it would process information quicker than if it works out whether an object has intent or not. Hence our brain sees a tiger like object, its automatic response is that that object is a tiger which gives valuable time to take defensive action, than if our brain has to work out everything, large hairy object (tick), sandy colour (tick) with stripes (tick) on four legs (tick) has large teeth (tick) and moves fucking qui................................ It is why we might mistake a shadow for a burglar but never mistake a burglar for a shadow. Hence metaphor or at least the theory.
