Jeff had enjoyed the evening and the meal, the presence of Bridget a pleasant surprise and more than off setting the disappointment of the earlier show...and he sipped his own refilled glass as he considered her request, knowing the line was about to be crossed...
"There's not much to tell actually...I set out to be a Doctor, trying to find the american dream...married my college sweetheart in my third year and after grauduating bought a house in the suburbs and set up practice. Everything seemed to going along just fine, my wife was pregnant...the small town supported me and my practice was growing...I had the pleasure of delivering what I thought was my own daughter...."
He stopped, wondering just why he was sharing his life story with a person who either forget what he said the next day...or possibly spread it over the campus...and then mentally shrugged as he realized he could simply command her to forget it all if need be....
"Long story short..***** wasn't as perfect as I thought...my wife had found a lover as I worked through med school and the child wasn't mine....we parted and I closed the practice...From there I immersed myself in research and furthered my degrees...eventually choosing the advanced development program of this University..."
He quieted then, the retelling of his past life making him reflect how different things could have been....and mentally shrugged as he accepted the fact he couldn't change things...
"Que sera, sera...as they say...right?"
