LCD Monitors

Yeah, man...they really help with the dosage...man...hehehe

oh wait...L.C D

uh...oops

Yes, I have one on my desktop and of course my laptop. both are very nice, not to mention a real space saver on the desktop! If you're a really intense gamer, I've heard that a CRT is better for Resolution, but mine works fine for all my apps and games. Given the price of LCD's, I'd recommend one! Hope this helps!

Anyone using one? I'm thinking of getting one.

Pros and cons?

Pros: Very bright crisp colours.
Small Desk Space
Energy efficient

Cons: Not good for action or fast moving DVD movies
Not good for fast moving games.
Pixels tend to bleed into one another doing quick movements causing ghostig effect.
Limited to one resolution

I much prefer my lcd over the old crt. Much easier on the eyes, less desk space with a bigger screen. Down side is it generates less heat in the winters :) I've not had much noticable problems in games or movies myself but you'll notice it a bit in fast high end 3d games. Definately make sure it has a response time of 25ms or less.

LCD has no flash rate. Heavenly for those of us with such sensitivities. It also puts the monitor farther away from my eyes since it doesn't take up this huge amount of space.

I cannot use a CRT under flourescent lights because of the dueling flash rates.

The down side is that they're less durable than CRTs. THe screen is sensitive to touch so if you have children, keeping hands off is awful.

I wasn't really aware of the game and DVD thing. Of course, I watch DVDs on mine all the time and hadn't noticed a problem.

One point uno it all depends on your sensitivies. SOmedays my monitor can cripple me. (Technically for the work I do I'm not supposed to have one, but it's my money)

The less durable is true. Mine has a scratch. THIS WILL BUG YOU TILL THE DAY YOU DIE

DVDs are fine para los me.

I'll second that...... someone touched my LCD screen and I have a 'hotspot' right over the refresh button on my browser (and everything else in that location) and it drives me NUTS!!!!

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 151s, and it's fantastic. I did a tremendous amount of research, and in my opinion, this is one of the best out there without paying too much. I got it for a little over $300. Very good pixel refresh rate so you can play games without any problems. I'm an avid gamer, so this was a very important spec for me. No, you're not limited to one resolution, but the recommended one is the best. This is a 15 inch monitor, and the res. is 1024x 768. If I had to do it again, I would go for the 17 inch version of this model, but I'm happy with what I have.

One thing I found out was that a 15 inch monitor is roughly equivalent to a 17 inch CRT.

The only drawbacks I've found are that the colors are not quite as true as a CRT, and the edges of my screen are a bit of a hot spot on a black screen. Any other color, and I don't notice it. That's all I can think of for now.

Oh yeah, it comes with a great warranty too. :D
