The grammar Nazis are welcome to hyper criticize all they wish. But, I will continue to use ELLIPSIS -- and other graphical and sentactical constructs to convey conversational tones -- when BB posting here or chatting.

Technically, frequently using three or more dots (periods or other characters) to denote conversational "stream of consciousness" is not ellipsis abuse *; it's merely an alternative to other conjunctions or the (horror) run-on sentence.

KITTE: On a more serious note, don't worry about who likes you or who approves of your writing. Be yourself.....have fun.....enjoy the site.....and you'll end up with more friends than you can count. And, count me among them.

Hell, seeing this topic is like being forced to watch a dreadful "B-" movie that has been chopped up and played on network TV over...and over....and over again; until we all want to shoot ourselves out of sheer boredom.
Maybe we should just create an all time thread and call it Attack of the grammar gestapo. We could run it out every month, intimidate the crap out of a few new people and let it die down again. I can think of a couple of reasons to do this.
It would be efficient. Just think, we wouldn't have to come up with new ways to complain about petty annoyances. It would give us much more time to sit back and feel smugly superior about our ability to communicate via the written word.

I think ellipses have their place. There is a difference between use and abuse. I learned that in AA.
