Hey Laurel, over the last 48 hours, I've been getting these pop-ups from LIT. They advertise University Diploma's. Are they coming from your site....or ICQ, or Yahoo Mesenger? Thats the only 3 I have open when they occur.

Check the screenshot for more details.

No pop up's here either whilst lurking.
My yahoo isn't on or ICQ.
Never had that pop up at all. :)

I'm kinda picking it to be from Yahoo...as the message box is headed "Messenger Service" on both its title bar and on the taskbar. I know there is NO spyware on my machine, its a totally clean system.

Laurel doesn't do pop-ups. Try clicking links through a government site while running ICQ and then do the same while running yahoo. Government sites don't do advertisement pop-ups at all. That way you'll know who is doing it and it won't be Lit.

I guess Yahoo. They're having a crappy quarter.

Draco, that looks more like a net-send than a pop-up ad.

I get those goddamn things too - I have no idea where they come from. And I can't seem to find any program running on my computer that they'd be from.

Draco..

It is a net-send.

It's not a pop-up ad. It's being sent via your ip address directly from one computer to yours.

My boyfriend does this to me all the time, and taught me how to do it also. All you need is an IP address and the dos or command prompt.

I made him send me one so you could see:
(I blurred out my ipaddress on it)

Yahoo is infamous for sneaking in random popups when you least expect it. I am glad that Opera allows me to turn them off.

I realize pop-ups weren't the problem here, but who knows, someone with pop-up trouble might happen upon this thread and find this useful:

Literotica doesn't have pop-ups. There are some nefarious programs out there which, if installed on your computer, may pop consoles at certain websites. Check out this thread for someone who was having similar problems:

Thanks Angel, and Crysede. I'll use that pop up stopper and see if it helps.

A popup stopper won't help the net-sends as they're being sent through your computer, not a website.

A firewall will block them.

That'll show me who's sending them as well?

Nope, because you won't get them. The firewall prevents the person from being able to send it at all.

A good firewall doesn't just block, it logs the point of origin.

Does it? I didn't know that, thanks. Zone Alarm doesn't, I tested it earlier.

ZoneAlarm isn't technically a firewall in spite of what it calls itself, but it can be set to log the IP and resolved names if you want.
