Late Night with Paul Schaffer???

Since when does he sub for Letterman? Granted Dave needs some time off every now and then but how long has this been going on? I only caught the last few minutes so I really can't criticise the guy but he doesn't seem like a natural fit to me. Has Paul been any good or was this his first time?

Tonight the hostess is Ms. Bonnie Hunt. Is Dave planning on retiring? and who is she?

Dave has Shingles and co-hosts are filling in.

Bonnie Hunt..umm she was in Beethoven 1, 2, 3 and has a show on tv now.

Paul is a dork at the best of times and no amount of dark glasses will EVER make him cool.

Bonnie Hunt is an actress.. "Life with Bonnie" on ABC not to mention several movies.

David Letterman is on sick leave. He has Shingles in his left eye. An ailment caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox in children.

He has been having 'guest' hosts for a few weeks now. My best guess is they decided on Paul Schaffer lastnight for two reasons..

1. It is wartime and who really wants to make a special trip to NY to host and then have the show cancelled because Peter Jennings has a special report.

2. He has been Dave's sidekick for years and it makes perfect sense.
