Laptop problems *cries*

Slightly Off-topic Bitch

If it is lit, check the following:
- If the Sleep indicator is lit, the computer is in Sleep mode.
Press any key or tap on the touchpad to resume.

Nothing appears on the screen.
The computer's power management system automatically blanks the
screen to save power. Press any key to turn the display back on.
If pressing a key does not turn the display back on, check the
following:
• The brightness level might be too low. Press Fn + → hot key to
increase the screen brightness level.
• The display device might be set to an external monitor. Press the
Fn + F5 hot key to toggle the display setting.
• The system may be in standby mode. Try pressing the power
button to resume.
Ok brighteyes. Now that we've passed the obvious, can you shed a little more information that might actually be helpful? The writers/editors of these things need a long ride on a short, blunt stake.

They just don't make things like they used to.

No they don't. I have tons of still working great shit from the past. I am the family historian. They know I will keep shit, in working order and it won't get tossed. I really need to throw some stuff away but what I don't have that's old and reliable is a lap top! LOL!

That's right in the past it was quality that was king sadly today its money. The just keep making them so if something goes wrong they can choose to repair or replace at their discretion.

My car or my computer quits, I get depressed. My wings are clipped even if I can borrow anothers.

yeah I know the feeling , it happened recently with my leg too :D :rose:
I'd like to hear more about how that borrowed leg worked out.

Note to self: Posting this in the BDSM area does not support the repeated claims about the laptop having not been abused...

lol :D

Do canadian crutches count as borrowed leg ? ;) :rose:

So have you ever had something that was fucked up but not fucked up enough that the repair tech has any chance, genius that he is of fixing it? So you have to wait until it gets even more fucked up before you take it in and have any hope of getting it fixed? That's where I am with my lap top.

*screams*

Sorry for being so self-absorbed ! :rose:

I totally understand that! Hopefully your leg doesn't have to get worse before the fuckers will be able to fix it!

As a member of the computer tech group.. that's all I heard.

It is true... if it is behaving 100% when he looks at it, it is hard to figure out what the problem might be.

It's the same for cars, tv's and other things. YOU know what the problem is but when you take it in, it's hasn't been used in a while, isn't overheating and acts as nice as can be. *grr*

I have been on the other side many times... the words, "Show me the problem you are having." has solved more issues than you can imagine.

I bet it's frustrating on both sides!

In my office, most of the latops are identical. If someone has a problem like that I swap hard drives with them and trade laptops so I can see the problem and they walk away with a reliable laptop. Of course, if it was a software problem, they'll be back.

Boy oh boy do I WISH my dude did that!!!

Is it true that in general lap tops are less reliable than desk tops?

Well the compontents are smaller and in a tighter setting so that might add a extra heat factor that can be deadly to electronics. But I think the addage you get what you pay for holds up true too, not saying you were cheap with the laptop. There are many makers of the same pieces some are just better quality then others.
