My daughters are going to the prom in about one month. One of my girls is plus-size. I'm having trouble finding something that will fit her that is within my budget (since we've got 2 of them to buy, plus the $$ it will take to get them to where the prom is (out of state), there isn't a lot left for dresses.

If any of you can help me with some places online to look, please let me know. My budget is for $150, max, per dress. Not much, I know, but it can't be helped.

I'm looking at lots of sites, but so far haven't found much that meets all the criteria (biggest problem is her size, and also the length of time needed for delivery).

Thanks....

Just a thought -- David's Bridal. I know they have wedding, bridal party, and prom dresses made up to plus size.

Thanks for the suggestion. checked it out, and they aren't big enough.

Have you checked out Layne Bryant (sp?) I know they have plus sizes and may have a dress that would be prom-ish.

Lane Bryant doesn't have "prommy" enough dresses for a teen girl, unfortunately.

If she's into Gothic things, Hot Topic or Torid has pluss sized dresses for cheep. I got my senior prom dress for $20 at Hot Topic...

That is my daughter's favorite store! Good idea!

Well, this one isn't into Gothic, but her sister is; I'll have to check it out.

Hey, have you thought about having something made for her? Do you know a seamstress? That would save you the shipping headache, but you'd probably need to get started pretty quick.

Also, there are several gorgeous BBWs on this board - I've met some of them - maybe you should start a thread asking them...

Some people might feel more comfortable replying to you in a PM also....

Good Luck!

We've thought about that, but don't know anyone who could sew. If I'd started about 6 months ago, I could have done it. lol But I'd need a LOT more than one month to do it.

Very good point! I'll post it in the BBW & Admirers thread, too. Thanks for the suggestion.

PMs are fine!

you can so pull that off.

150 should be more than enough to coer the cost of a nice prom dress~ the bridesmaid deptartment of any store is good adice.

I dont know if they carry the larger sizes but HMv is a great store...a girlfriend of mine picked up a strapless beaded a~line dress that look fantastic on her for 50 bucks.

those dresses look familiar. I guess I saw them on Lorelei...I know I looked at that site. They are all beginning to blend into one big link now...I think I'm going cross-eyed! LOL!

Glam...thanks for the input. $50 would be great, but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to find her a size 26 for $50. Oh, well....the search continues.....

You might want to double check David's Bridal. I know they carry wedding dresses up to at least a 26. Also, keep in mind that sometimes sizes run a little large. When I bought my wedding dress I wore a 24 in everything else, but I walked out with a size 22 wedding dress.

OK....I'll recheck there. It is difficult, because all the sites seem to have different size meanings. Grrr....
