Ladies, advice please

If you were going to visit a man and you told him "Dont go to a lot of trouble for me. I just wanna see you." What would you really mean?
I of course would ignore that and go to grocery store, florist, ect.. Clean house like a madman. You get the idea.
I am just curious if thats just noise or if it all really doesnt matter.

Well, I wouldnt' want to have to move the newspaper and yesterday's pizza box to find a seat.

Essentially, it means one flower, not a bouquet, some cheese and crackers, not caviar and probably jeans and a shirt, not a suit and tie.

Dont' go to too much trouble, but a bit of trouble is heart warming.

If I said that, I would mean it. If I were expecting "extras" I 'd let him know..
But..clean sheets are always a plus.

If it's spotlessly neat and clean, that's bad (in my book of Good and Bad Things, anyway). If it's got old pizza on the table, a sink full of dirty dishes, a peculiar smell, and dirty bathrooms, that's bad. It's a balancing act, like everything.

However, fresh flowers are always good and i award bonus points for having a couple of at-least-not-dead houseplants. Extra bonus points are available for toilet paper on the toilet paper holder and not sitting someplace close by.

I've said it before. I think my intention was to downplay the formality of meeting him, not necessarily meaning I didn't want him to make the slightest effort on my behalf. I just wanted him to feel comfortable and, by doing that, I would feel more comfortable!

Clean bathroom, clean kitchen, open some windows to air the place out and for gods sake make sure all your underwear is pulled from between the couch cushions. That's just gross.

Im a man not a pig. The house is usually clean but just a tad cluttered. The bathroom is cleaned every sunday. Sheets changed once a week at least.
I bathe twice a day. I mean damn, Im poor but Im not a slob.

Sounds to me like your momma raised you well. Just tidy up a bit of the clutter and be yourself for your visiting friend.
