LA is getting a new subway!

The Metro board has approved the construction of a new subway paralleling the 405!

It will connect the Valley to UCLA and the Westside. It will eventually continue south to LAX. This is a huge piece of the master plan to tie all of LA together with modern trains.

I recall a SNL skit -- a steamy sexy soap opera set in SoCal, where nobody can get out a sentence without including lengthy driving directions.

There are always plans on the drawing board to build a light rail system here in Tampa (above ground -- water table's too high for a subway), but the funding never gets voted.

I just took my first Waymo in L.A. a few weeks ago. It darted down the narrower streets like a champ - even with oncoming traffic - and warned me that a car was coming while I was getting out of it.

Autonomous rideshares, which will include mass-transit vehicles, will transform that city, guaranteed. Within a decade or so, I predict much of the younger generation won't bother with owning a car there.

Miami-Dade really should extend Metrorail all the way south to Florida City.

Looking at this, I guess they need to extend the Green Line to Anaheim (Disneyland!) and Tustin.
