Klingons in the White House

Rep. David Wu (D-Ore.) captured the award for nuttiest speech of the new Congress when he delivered this statement on the floor of Congress:

"This president has listened to some people, the so-called Vulcans in the White House, the ideologues. But you know, unlike the Vulcans of Star Trek who made the decisions based on logic and fact, these guys make it on ideology. These aren't Vulcans. There are Klingons in the White House. But unlike the real Klingons of Star Trek, these Klingons have never fought a battle of their own. Don't let faux Klingons send real Americans to war."

I'd feel better about this if he'd actually made sense  Faux Klingons? Everyone get out your phasers and prepare to beam in!

I'm certainly beginning to doubt that there's any intelligent life in Washington.

I've been in that mindset for quite a while now. It's just one idiocy after another with them.

Except for the warm and fuzzy part - which it's not - goverment spending has the same trouble as tribbles: it multiplies rapidly and exponentially.

Last night on The Daily Show Jon Stewart had phone conversations with George Takei and Leonard Nimoy about the Klingon speech.

DAMN funny.

:cathappy:

Furthermore, the current occupants of the Oval Office remind me more of Ferengi.

Ignorant, classless, sneaky, racist, sexist and they would be highly amusing if they didn't have so much power.

Actually, Rob, I was thinking BORG.

Nah. The Borg have class. ;)

Plus the worst the Ferengi can do is kill you. What the Borg do is much, much worse.

Unfortunately, being a Borg is the idea of Paradise for many people. To be part of something so powerful, and free of responsibility is an idea many chase after.

Yes. Exactly. That's what Bush-Bots are all about - Let the phoney cowboy do all their "thinking" for them. The problem is, Bush and his croneys have no idea what a thought is.

Well, Sealand doesn't appear to be up for sale anymore...

I was looking for something larger..... more resort island to generate income as well as escape idiotic leaders.

Well, that does help explain things. Bush was hit by random phaser fire. He's been in "stun" mode for a few years now.

I thought he snorted it up his nose.

At least most Klingons have a certain sense of honour and duty.
Rob! (*slap*slap*) Get a grip man! Don't geek out on me now! You open up that nerd wormhole and we'll all be sucked in!

The point is that a member of the house of represenatives geeked out and used the analogy in a serious context...and yes it was a bad analogy. You're right, the more apt analogy would have been Ferengi...NO!

Must...not...give...into...inner...geek....blacking...out....!

Don't forget massively ugly and have huge ears. ;)

Be still my beating heart........... A Star Trek thread. :D

No self respecting Klingon would delve into American politics at any level.

Any true Star Trek fan would know that the current White House is more like the Romulan High Senate than any other government in the Alpha Quadrant. ;)

Resistance is futile...you will be assemilated!

I could see that...if you chopped the average Romulan IQ by about 100 points.

Nahhh.. Think about it. Bush is simply the lesser figure head that does the bidding of the real powerbrokers behind the scenes. The IQ of the figurehead isn't as important as the smart, shifty bastards that are really running the show.
