Go Lieberman! This may be a witchhunt ala Clintonian Era Republicans, but these watchdogs are what make DC a little more on the fair side. Making sure the pres and crew aren't running rampant is the main reason why I would not want a single party in charge of both branches.

I firmly believe that if we have a republican president than we need a democratic congress and vice versa. For balance and oversight.

After all, someone needs to bridle the executive branch and fellow partisans are just going to be along for the ride. It was good when Clinton was in and the Repbulicans were frothing in Congress and it is good now that Bush is in and Democrats are frothing in congress.

You want to know something scarey...

No less that Ruddy on Newsmax also endorsed Honest Joe early this week on his website. It's still there!

Balance maybe.

But we need an all Republican government for a while to "balance" those years when the Democrats had all of the branches.

I mean, if you want balance and fairness and are you assuming that the 'pubs will win both houses.

Because 8 moths ago Celeste the Boby assured me that the Dems would take over in the off-year election. A truism, she informed me.

what years?

I keep reading babble on these boards about those years when the Dems controlled Congress and the presidency. These would be 1960-68, 1976-80, and 1992-94. That's 14 years out of 40+. Granted they didn't achieve all that much, except under LBJ, and his legacy includes the Viet Nam War, but somebody's peddling mythology here.

Conversely, Young Georgie managed to "achieve" a GOP wet dream for exactly 3 months until his clueness aggression drove a senator out of the party and lost his Congressional dominance. Too bad, guys!

The defection isnt that big a deal with the Robert Byrds, Zell Millers, and other conservative dems in the senate
