Ok... I'm going to weigh in on this whole matter.... having become aware of the "tensions" swirling around....

I have taken the time to do a bunch of reading of both this thread and the I is B thread...

I appreciate KAHN-E's desire to keep a thread on topic. It is more pleasant for a reader/poster to be able to jump in and share when it is their interest also. But the reality is that nobody is going to "control" what gets put into the thread. It is just a fact of life and the way the internet works. I would hope that each poster would care enough to post only if their comments were on topic (save for an occasional Hi to everyone), but again... this site is about freedom of speech. So other than some basic organization and the removal of stuff that clearly is a violation of the Forum Guidelines, there will be no other control. We all will get to make our choices whether we stay, leave, or simply post somewhere else.

I know we are all human but how about if we just try to go the higher road and keep our moths shut if we are not happy about something on a thread. It's just a thread... start a new one or post on another... the world will not end because it is off topic. Let's love each other instead of frickin fighting.

There is a longstanding practice in the Playground of thread founders "owning" their threads. There are at least 50 such threads which have had recent posts. The person starting the thread directs the content. All I have ever asked was to be afforded that right. If others don't like that direction, they are free to post on the Seinfeld thread or wherever.

I would love it if the others would keep their mouths shut or post to other threads. I have tried to be freindly, but have been attacked on the threads and in PMs. Why not post your comments where the others will see them?

KAHN-E ~ Yes I aware of the thought of "owning" a thread (I have been around Lit for a long time). But let's be realistic here... time's change, practices change. Nothing is constant except inept government (sorry) and death. Nobody owns anything at Lit except Laural & Manu. Period. There are no "rights" to afford/give.
It is free speech.

I appreciate your feelings. I really do. And as I stated before, it would be nice if everybody just fell behind you like ducks following mom as you lead them to the water... but thats probably not going to happen.

Let me give you an example. As I was surveying the board this AM, I noticed a poster who posted the same post in about 7 different threads simply to say they admired the ad of the OP. Totally off topic and inappropriate. But that is their right to post there if they want and unless it gets rude or insulting, it will stay.

I will think about posting my comments so everybody else can see them.

Have you told others who claim ownersip, founding, whatever, that they have no rights to attempt to maintain the focus of their threads?

There are a large number of such threads here, as I am sure you know. Am I the only one receiving this treatment?

The Playground used to be for only the fun-lovers. The beligerant and abusive posters were contained in the General Board. The tone of posts in the Playground is a lot less playful these days. That isn't a good development.

I completely agree with you here

Some people I don't know posted to the poll, which certainly was their privilege. Some questioned my motives and my sincerity. That is also their privilege.

I don't mind you voting. I did invite anyone to vote. I was just surprised. I was even more surprised by you assigning motives to me without having any interaction with me.

There is no fight... I, like anybody else on any board within this forum, have the right of free speech. You may want to draw useless conclusions about what you think is going on but you may easily be wrong.

Again, as I originally stated, we all have the right of free speech and we all can choose to respond, if provoked.

And one other question... why would you "enjoy" a fight?

Thanks for clarifying that KAHN-E. You are right, we are not fighting.

But anybody, anywhere, anytime can flame me just like anybody else. I may be a moderator but I am no different than any other member here except that I can enforce the rules that L & M have established. Nobody is going to get in "trouble" for fighting with a moderator (at least this moderator).

I hope you get settled back in soon. The only thing for certain is change. We must adapt and move on. The PG is still a lot of fun. Maybe more people will give you second chances.

That might be... but the reality of my original point in this thread really has absolutely nothing to do with being a moderator. And the viewpoints that I have expressed go way back to before I was a mod. Stuff changes. We can't control others thoughts. It may sound lame/repetitious/or boring but we all shoulder the responsibility for what we say and how it affects others. In this big cyber world we are all equal and all have the same rights.
