Kenny Stabler dies at age 69.
Ken "the Snake" Stabler will always be remembered for his years as quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. In his last playing years, he spent some time in New Orleans, throwing for the Saints. This was during the many winters of our discontent, before it was made summer by the glorious spring Breez.
I remember watching a Stabler in a Saints game. They were ahead by one point and backed up to their own goal line. There were only a few minutes on the clock, so all they had to do was hold on and it was a win. Stabler took the snap, stepped back and saw the Blitz. He fell on the ball, for a two point safety. Did I mention they were 1 point ahead?

From his family's statement:

He quietly battled Stage 4 colon cancer since being diagnosed in February 2015.

...At his request, his brain and spinal cord were donated to Boston University’s Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center to support research for degenerative brain disease in athletes.

March, April, May, June...

...took only 4 months from diagnosis to death to get to him.

A rush he couldn't snake away from...

...I wonder if he was a child of God.

A legend indeed! Brady, Wilson, Kapernick or any of the other pretty boy QB's could not carry his jock strap.

RIP Snake.

Madden said if he had to pick one QB for a must-have drive, out of all the qb's who have played in the league it would be Stabler. When the pressure was on, he just got better.
