I heard that Ken now has hair, in several styles including manbun and beard.

(He's always had more hair than most gb males)

Is this a sign of progress towards true gender parity?

Or further proof that Ken is gay?

Bonus:why is it Barbie & Ken? Irl, they would have always been known as Ken & Barbie.

Not necessarily. It can also be primacy of relationship. For example, if my family or I have the existing relationship with Barbie and she later gets with Ken, they would be referred to as Barbie and Ken.

Oh and cuz Barbie's a star and Ken is a hangers-on. :p

Someone showed me a picture of man bun Ken the other day.

My favorite Ken was Rhett Butler Ken. I also had a Scarlett O'Hara Barbie with the red curtains dress she made.

At our home it was a similar story.

We got this yuuge barbie house for my sister and all accessories, and ken came out later and wasn't a big thing - dolls were for girls only, and girl dolls were their favorites.

Granted, the sociological implications of Ken with hair aren't as exciting as your fave Barbie dress.

The Oscar de la Renta clothing line must have been before or after my time. I don't recall it.

One of my favorites was Hollywood Barbie. Long hair down to her thighs and, if I'm remembering correctly, hair stencils that you could clamp and then spray different designs with this pink spray.

Absolutely. Barbie was out having adventures, doing business, saving people, being the Belle of the social ball. Ken was and is just arm candy. Now apparently with a man bun. o_O

I want to say early 80s. Pretty much when I was starting to leave them behind.

Ken never had real hair, like Barbie. I liked doing Barbie's hair and sometimes giving her a haircut.
