Keeping Manson alive cost...

No one cares?

He is ONE freakin' person.... can you imagine? Something NEEDS to be done.

This is not about him. A prisoner in California costs $75k a year. Do you make 75K a year? A prisoner does. WTF

My plan is to have all criminals convicted of first degree murder and worse crimes put in a giant hunger games style arena in the middle of the Australian desert. Then they can all kill each other off and we don't have to worry about them anymore.

I am a little pissed that people in prison make more money than I do. All they have to do is get in trouble and sit around and do nothing.

May be silly question but do they actually make that money, or do they cost that much to keep annually. Pretty sure they don't make anything like that here.

Yes manson should not have been kept in prison, for the crimes he committed.

Crazy thing is, last time I checked, it was cheaper to imprison them for life than to apply the death penalty.

ETA

Jinx - thanks Trigger. I don't have my laptop right now to do the links.

Yeah, doesn’t the death penalty just mean a free for all, for life, for greedy lawyers doing appeals and stuff.

Greedy lawyers or not, last I saw it was 157 or more death penalty exonerations. DNA evidence was used in many to prove innocence. I'm glad the appeals process exists. I am sure we have executed innocent people which is just as tragic as letting a killer go free.

What's the alternative solution, is there an alternative solution.

Yea, quit coddling and upping prisoner benefits and luxuries.

Put the mother fuckers to work on chain gangs and shit.....make prison suck again.

If you want a prisonlike experience with benefits and little luxuries here and there, join the military.

California has been trying to un-fuck itself for decades, but the lawyers won't let it happen.

It costs substantially more to execute a prisoner than to keep them alive for a life sentence.

Yep, and it gets more expensive the more jerk off pro-criminal the state is.

Yeah, doesn’t the death penalty just mean a free for all, for life, for greedy lawyers doing appeals and stuff.

Yep.

And California wants to keep it that way at all costs.

Won't get rid of the death penalty.....but won't act on it either.

No one cares?

No, not really. There are and have been a lot worse people in prison for many years. I won't go into the long, long list of serial killers and molesters.

I'm kind of annoyed at the attention this one got and is still getting. Forget him.

We don’t have the death penalty in the UK, so maybe I shouldn’t have committed.

I am sure we have executed innocent people

The only one I know of for sure is Cameron Todd Willingham and Dickhead Perry interfered in that one so bad, we may never know for sure. Word is the exoneration was written but not signed by the presiding judge for unknown reasons.

The sad truth is we may never know how many for the same sorts of reason. Few states actively investigate these instances and it's left to privately funded Innocence Projects. The subjects have usually exhausted all appeals (all using the original possibly tainted evidence) and have little or no access to further impartial investigations.

There may have been dozens wrongfully executed.

That works out to $21,739 a year. I think that's vastly understated. California's Governor and its government are famous for their budgetary hocus-pocus to conceal the true costs of the state government.

Prisoners should all have Lit memberships so they can re-integrate into society like MelissaBaby, yes?

Interesting Factoid: Manson never actually participated in any of the murders. His case was unique in the charge, conviction and sentence.
