"Next week we will be finishing our discussion on A Midsummer Night's Dream and moving on to the slightly more serious Macbeth," Professor Blythe reminded the class after glancing at her watch and seeing that class time was up. "The study group meets an hour early this week, so if you plan on attending, please make a note."
Allison wrote the adjusted time at the top of her class notes before closing the notebook and slipping it into her book bag. As she stood and slipped her coat on, she saw one of her friends, Daphne stop to speak with the professor. Allison wrapped her scarf around her neck, draping it over her shoulder, and then grabbed her book bag. As she approached the front of the room, Daphne smiled at her and followed her out of the class.
"What are you doing tonight?" Daphne asked as they stepped into the nearly deserted hallway.
"Nothing," Allie responded. "I've got about eighteen hours worth of reading to do. Other than that, just eat some dinner and maybe talk to me sister on the computer. What about you?"
"I'm going to the party I told you about," Daphne said with a grin. "Jacob asked me to go with him." She said the last part with barely contained enthusiasm, practically bouncing against Allie's shoulder.
"Ok, calm down," Allie said, rolling her eyes as the girls passed through the front doors of the classroom building and turned down the winding sidewalk that led to their dorm.
"You should come."
"No, I wouldn't want to spoil your 'date'," Allison said. "Besides, you know I don't like going out on nights when we have our late class. I've got Astronomy and Calculus in the morning."
"Well, I'll try not to have too much fun without you," Daphne said as they approached the dorm. "I'll be sure to give you all the sordid details tomorrow."
Allison just laughed at the thought of Daphne doing anything sordid. She had to be the shyest girl she knew. The reality was, if Jacob actually made a move on her, Daphne would probably faint or run away screaming.
"Oh, I forgot, I need to get my mail," Daphne said as they entered the lobby of the dorm.
"I'm going to go on up to my room," Allie said as the red head started toward the bank of mail slots by the front desk. "Have a good time."
"I will," Daphne said with a mischevious grin.
A few minutes later, Allison walked into her dorm room, letting her book bag drop to the floor. She hung her scarf and coat up then kicked her shoes off and flopped down on the bed which was still messed up from the night before. She glanced over at the clock on the night table, seeing that it was already nearly 8:30. She groaned audibly at the thought of getting back up to cook something, but finally dragged herself to the kitchen and pulled some leftover chinese from her mini-fridge.
Allie sat the container down on her desk by the keyboard before slipping her shirt over her head and tossing it into the laundry hamper. She wore a white tank top underneath. Then she slipped out of her jeans and took a seat at the desk, shifting the mouse before slipping her head set on.
"Let's see if Jessica is on," she said to herself as she clicked the button to call her sister.
