Cole was devastated. For centuries he had searched for his Keeper - the human who held his heart, who he had been destined to be with. Finally, he had met her, and he had never been happier in his life. Gia meant everything to him, and in only a few days he became happier than probably anyone else on the planet had ever been. Sadly, the happiness proved to be short lived, as catastrophic events led to his being separated from Gia. They had been attacked - he remembered that, but after the attack things went a bit fuzzy. When he woke up, the ones who attacked him were dead, and Gia was no where to be seen. What was more, it felt as though his heart was once more gone, he couldn't feel it beating in his chest. He knew somehow, that if he was able to find her, he would get it back - there was only one place it would go, and that was back to her. He set out on his journey, leaving the past behind him. He woudl find her - he had to. At least this time , he knew who he was looking for, he just did not know where to find her. Above all else, he needed to meet her again, find her and be with her. With every town he went to, he searched through the bars in teh town. That was where he had found her before, and that is where he knew he would find her again. He only hoped nothign would happen to her.

"Gia!" The sound of her name brought her back to reality as booze over flowed from a cup she had been pouring for a patron. Blinking she stopped pouring and quickly apologized for the mistake. Grabbing some towels she went to clean up the mess as the offset paron walked to a booth with his overflown drink.

"Gia you okay?" Her manage came up behind her wrapping a comforting hand around her. "This is the third time this week. You've been off in la-la land...what's going on?" He questioned helping her clean up the mess as the patrons were served by other employees.

"Its nothing..." she said trailing off. A blush high on her cheeks from being caught in such distress. After she finished cleaning she went to go toss the towels in the sink rinsing them off but immediately she stopped and began breaking down.

"Gia?"

"Its... may I take a break please." She asked tears welling up in her eyes.

"Hun why don't you go on head home." Her manager said coming up to her then.

"No!" she shouted suddenly but then calmed herself. "I can't bare being alone right now. Honest I'm fine let me just take a break to get my barings."

"Fine go ahead. I'll cover for you."

"Thank you." she said and quickly made her way from behind the bar going upstairs to the break area. It over looked the rest of the bar but one could not see due to the two way mirror windows. She sat there staring down at the bar below. For some time now she'd been caught in a daze, a strange vision of someone she'd met before but for some reason she couldn't place his name with a face. Or his face with a name...she didn't know what it was but ever so often she'd catch herself staring at the door waiting and hoping to see him. And still she didn't even know who he was... "I must be losing my mind." she muttered pouring herself some coffee from the machine, while tossing a hotpocket in the mircrowave.

Cole walked fairly slowly, his head hanging down, his eyes cast down at the ground. As it began to rain, his dark hair fell into his eyes, even though he did his best to push it away. He looked up for just a moment to see that he was entering yet another town. Stopping for a few minutes, he looked at the sign welcoming him to another town in the middle of nowhere. For a moment, he considered turning around and walking somewhere else, giving up on his quest. It had been so hard, travelling for such a long time, he didn't know if it was worth it. With that thought, he remembered Gia, and how full of life she had been, her smile, how she had made him smile. Taking in a deep breath, he continued his walk, entering the new town with a renewed sense of purpose - he had to find her. Walking carefully around the town, he looked into the first bar he came across.
"Well...I guess I'll start here."
Cole had found Gia the first time in a bar, working (quite well) as a bartender. Somehow he knew that that is how he would find her again. Entering the door, he dried himself off a bit and looked around, keeping an eye out for someone who could be his love. With the first glance, he noticed no one. Still, he had to take his chances, so he followed the pattern he always followed - finding a nice chair somewhere a little secluded and keeping an eye out for her, hoping, praying, that he would find her.

After taking her break Gia allowed herself a moment to compose herself before she walked back down the stairs. Feeling much better now she smiled broadly though still not as brightly as she could remember. Some time ago she used to be smiling non-stop now she only did so for the good of the bar hoppers.

"Mac...I'm ready to work now." she told her manager who smiled warmly padding her on the back.

"Good girl. Why not go see if the gentleman in the booth there needs something to whet his whistle?"

"Sure, boss." she said and snagged a notepad before heading over. Upon stopping at the booth her eyes laid on the drenched stranger and for some reason she couldn't help laughing. Either his bedazzled look or the fact that she was covering a slight familiar sense she couldn't help it. "Poor thing you must have been out in the rain." she said. Pulling her apron off she tossed it to him. "Not much in the way of a towel but at least dry your hair off, you'll catch a death of cold." she said.

Looking at him more closely now she wet her lips then squinted her eyes. "Have we met?" she asked he seemed familiar but he could have been an old patron she'd not seen in a while frequent the bar. "Pardon... I probably shouldn't ask. Anyway, what would you like to drink?" She asked the whole time her palm was sweaty, body temperature rising and her heart seemed to beat ten times as fast as normal. Something about this guy put her on edge and she wanted to get his order and hurry away to the bar.

Coel did not look up as he heard a waitress talking to him. Like every other time, he assumed it was just going to be some unimportant girl, not the one he was looking for. However, when he looked up, everythign changed. Tiem seemed to freeze and there she was. Somehow, after all thsi time, he had managed to find her. How long had he been looking? Months? Years? He didn't remember at all, and it didn't matter. She was here now, and so was he. It took every ounce of strength in him not to jump up and sweep her into his arms, kissing her. A smile began to form on his face until he noticed that she wasn't reacting like this at all. She didn't seem to recognize him. He knew this was her - it HAD to be but...something had happened, changed.
With that he decided he should probably answer her questions so that he did not frighten her too much.
"I'm not sure if we've met before actually...You do look a bit familiar. I could only be so lucky to hope that you would have talked to me before." He smiled at her, trying to think of what to say, what to do to get her to recognize him. "I'm not exactly sure what's good here....what do you reccommend?"

She fidgeted slightly, the look he gave her only made her want to jump out of her skin. Did he have to look so intensely at her? Licking her lips again she looked at the bar then back to him. "Um... I don't know. Maybe a simple beer." She offered. "They are freshly brewed and quite popular here."

She bit her lip feeling very much uncomfortable but at the same time comforted. And oddly enough she wasn't in her usual stupor. Even when the front bell rang she didn't look to it hopefully. Instead the man before her had caught her attention completely, why that was she had no clue. "Are you sure we haven't met?" she questioned but then shook her head. "I'll be right back with your drink..." and quickly she walked away ducking behind the bar corner where she had to catch her breath.

Cole began to reach for her to take ahold of her arm and stop her from leaving, but he stopped himself from doing so, knowing that something was bothering her. For a moment the thought running through his head was actually "What drink is she getting me? I didn't order anything..." But he managed to shake that away and he started to think about the larger problem here - she did not know who he was. He waited for a little bit, hoping that she would come back shortly with some drink and that he would be able to talk to her again. His head started to flood with thoughts - What had happened to her? Why didn't she remember him? Was she okay? Could he get her to remember?
Finally he decided that he should find her and talk to her again, hopefully she would remain calm and they could go somewhere with the conversation. Standing up from the booth he was in, he pushed his still-wet hair out of his eyes and slowly started walking around the bar, looking for Gia. He felt himself growing nervous, he knew that she might not handle things very well right now, but he needed her back in his life.

Gia was preparing simple mixture nothing fancy in fact it was just beer. She couldn't think of anything else to bring the stranger in her hurry to get away. Upon leaving the bar she turned a corner and ran smack dab into the Cole. Fall to the floor in a clatter of beer and glass she looked up to see the man before her.

Turning quickly to clean it up she looked up again to find her boss hovering. "Gia I'm sorry but you've been a mess all week. Please just go home, its a slow night anyway."

"I can't, I can't go home... I'll be alone!" she said a little louder than she had wanted. She looked behind her to Cole then back to her boss. "Please. Let me finish my shift."

Sighing her boss shook his head kneeling before her to help her to her feet. "No. Go home or I'll take you off the schdule for the week." Hearing this she growled but soon tiredness and nerves won out.

"Okay." she said and went to grab her coat. She stopped in front of Cole for a moment but then she really had nothing to say. Heading for the door she opened her umberella and made her way toward home. A sudden fear engulfing her whole body.

Cole watched as Gia talked to her boss, who was telling her to leave. He wanted to butt in and say something, that she shoudln't leave, she should stay...but he couldn't. He knew that if he said somethign like that he would sound like a lunatic. As he saw Gia start to leave he took a few steps forward and then suddenly was knocked away.
A few of the other customers in the bar rushed towards the bar and Cole got pushed away, losing sight of Gia in the process.
Cole grabbed the man closest to him and almost yelled at him "Where did she go?" His eyes scanned the bar quickly, and then noticed an umbrella leaving the bar. Running back to the booth he had been sitting at, he grabbed his coat and rushed to the door, opening it and rushing outside.
If Cole had been expecting to die down, he was greatly mistaken. The rain had, in fact, picked up. He could hardly see any direction around, and if he was hoping to find Gia, he was not going to be able to trust his eyes. He needed to get his attention.
"Gia! Are you out there?!?" He yelled as loudly as he could, hoping she could hear him.

Gia came from behind an alley at the sound of her name. She noted the man from the bar and fround. "How do you know my name?" she asked, not sure if her boss had used it in front of him or not but she was pretty sure he hadn't. And she wasn't known for wearing her nametag like the other employees.

Still she began walking away, the rain pouring down now and the umbrella was serving little more than a buffer but no real protection. Soon a wind rushed in and stole the umbrella right out from under her as it took off into the sky making a new destination. She swore loudly tears pouring down her face but unnoticed by the rain that mingled there. Falling to her knees in the rain she looked beaten and tired.

Today was just not a great day... "What's happening to me?"

Cole ran to Gia when she fell, checking to make sure that she was allright, that nothing was wrong. He took off his coat, holding it above her to keep the rain off of her, he tried to get her to look at him.

"Gia...it's okay...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you..." He placed his hand on her shoulder, pulling her closer to him. "We've....we've met before. You just...might not remember it." Cole stood up and pulled her with him, walking to a close doorway so that they would be covered by a doorway, away from the rain.

"I really didn't mean to scare you but...I've been looking for you. You're confused, I know. But, I...." He couldn't think of the words to say what he wanted to say. All he could do was look into her eyes and hope that something would trigger a memory.

"Who are you?" she asked not really caring but for some reason upon seeing this man before her, everything seemed topsy tervy. Sighing she stood to her feet using Cole for support as they hurried through the pouring rain to her quiant little appartment a few blocks away.

Upon reaching it she fished out her keys and opened the door not sure of letting Cole in or not but eventually she did. No point in letting the guy stay out in the rain. She let him in and quickly closed the door. "Stay here."

Hurrying to a pantry she grabbed some towels throwing one to Cole while drying herself off. "So what's you're story? Where have we met?" she asked recalling his admission from earlier as she led him to the kitchen. Putting a pot of water on the stove she waited for the water to boil so they could have tea or perhaps coco.

Putting a pot of water on the stove she waited for the water to boil so they could have tea or perhaps coco.

Cole was taken a bit by surprised as she took him to her apartment. In all honesty, he did not expect her to be as accepting as she was, though he was not surpised. Even when he had first met her, she was incredibly generous and kind. A smile formed on his face as he looked around her apartment, making sure not to take a step from the place she had told him to stay. It oddly reminded him of the apartment she owned before she vanished.

He was caught slightly off guard when she threw the towel at him, but he was able to catch it. While drying himself off, he watched her carefully, refamiliarizing himself with how she carried herself. She seemed so gracefull somehow, but without trying. Almost as though she were somehow walking on air. He knew that she was frazzled by everything going on, yet somehow she still carried an air of confidence, and that was amazing to him.

Following her into the kitchen, he dried off his hair as best as he could, then did what he could to dry off other parts of his body. "I'm not sure if you'd believe me if I told you the truth as to how we know each other. I'm actually hoping that I can do something that will trigger your memory. If I told you how we know each other, you'd kick me out and tell me never to see you again....and I can't have that."

With that, the kettle of water started to go off, indicating that the water was ready. When she went to pour the water for tea and coco, Cole went over to the bag he left by the door, taking out a book he kept with him. He had shown her this book before, when they first met. They had paged through it together and he told her stories from his past. He had hopes that perhaps seeing it would trigger something.

"Does...does this look familiar to you at all?"

She looked at the book going over it a few times in her head but alas nothing triggered a thought not a single glimmer. She sighed shaking her head and handing the book back. "I'm sorry it does not." she said, pouring herself some tea. "I can understand my looking familiar but maybe you are mistaken. I don't remember you not in the least even if we met there's really no point dredging up old memories. Its in the past. Maybe you should move on." she said carefully trying to figure out why she was so nervous around him. Maybe if she got him to leave things would be alright. But she still had a cold fear of being alone at nights.

He watched her, hoping that the book would do something, that she would remember anything about him, about herself, about their time together. When nothing happened, he was unsure of what to do. Covering his face with his hands for a moment, he tried to think of what he could do, what would jog her memory. "I don't know what happened to you...why you don't remember me but...I can't move on. If I can get you to remember me you'll understand why...But it's just far too important." Slowly he took a few steps towards her, trying not to seem threatening. "My name is Cole. We met a while ago and grew very close. I'm not entirely sure what happened but we got separated and now you don't remember me." He opened up the book in front of him to a page with a picture of a black dragon and a woman who he was holding close to his heart. "You're sure that this doesn't..." He couldn't finish the sentence, all he could do was look her in the eyes.

"I told you I don't know you!" she turned around quickly, the book in his hand she looked at the page then glared at him. But something in the book caught her eye and she quickly snatched it away to look at it again. "That dragon..." she breathed then squinted her eyes looking at him. The book fell from shakey hands to the floor closing completely as she staggered back.

"Get out!" she yelled at him huddling down she held her head in her hands shaking the visions in her mind. "Get out!" Wether she was telling him to leave or the visions it didn't matter, she moved back against a table which held a lamp and quickly picked it up tossing it toward Cole.

"Why are you doing this? Just get out, go away!" she screamed. "I thought it was over. He said it would be over if I just forgot... he promised I wouldn't hurt if I just forgot everything. But he lied!"

At first there seemed like nothing he could do, she seemed to be going insane, something was wrong. He watched as she fell to the ground, clutching her head. He heard her yelling, but he didn't care at all, something was terribly wrong. After coming back to his senses he rushed to her, putting his arms around her to comfort her, listening to what she said, trying to make sense of it.

She mentioned a man but....what man? Who could it be? Attempting to comfort her, he pulled her closer. "Who? Who made that promise? What was over? Who are you talking about?" So many questions were running through his mind that he couldn't get them all out. He was getting close to some answers, he knew that...but he wasn't sure if he wanted these answers. "Gia...you've got to remember. Who are you talking about?"

"I don't know him... I don't remember." she said finally giving in and wrapping arms around his waist to burry her head in his chest. "He told me to forget everything and I'd be safe. That's all I know." she said softly her voice losing its luster.

"I'm just so tired of being alone and I don't know why. I work long hours almost everyday just because I dread being home. There's nothing here just me, myself and I. Nothing... and its too painful to be alone." she sighed shuddering against him as the pain in her mind subsided. "If I forgot the pain would go away. If I kept busy and didn't let a moment of silence in then I wouldn't have to endure... I wouldn't have to sleep and those dreams. They wouldn't haunt me."

Cole tried to comfort Gia as much as was possible, whispering slightly in her ear and gently caressing her to calm her down. "It's allright...shhhh....calm down. Just take a deep breath, relax." He placed his hand on her cheek and looked into her eyes, smiling to comfort her. "You don't need to worry about being safe...it's my job to protect you. I'll do everything in my power to make sure nothing happens to you. I just need you to try to remember what happened, who made you forget."

He kissed her forehead very gently, hoping that she wouldn't be too terrifed by his action. "I'm here now, you won't be lonely anymore. I've been alone since you left, going from town to town trying to find you...I don't want to be lonely anymore. Just...please try to remember. Please." With these words he felt tears beginning to well up in his eyes. "Please..."

"I'm sorry I wish I knew. He told me if I forgot that all would be fine that he'd protect me but I don't even know him." she sighed into his chest. Realizing it felt comfortable like this, though she did not fight him she still had her qualms about this strange man. He seemed desperate for her to remember him and yet nothing sparked a sliver of interest or memory from times gone.

Not even in her dreams she could remember who he was. Only the fact that a man stood before her and the pain that tore her heart apart. All she could remember were flashes of light, someone being ripped from her and with it the promise for her to forget.

"It was in a dream..." she said softly. "That I was suppose to let go and move on with my life. But there was a man always in the shadows telling me to wait. He never really spoke but I could tell that he wanted me to wait. And always at the end of the dream when I thought he'd show me his face he'd fly away on leathery wings, a loud roar and then he'd go into battle with another. That's when I'd wake up feeling a jolt in my heart. Almost like an attack or something and when I thought I knew the man my head would start to pound and I'd do my best to just let the dream go, to forget it cause the pain was too much." she looked up at him with sorrowful eyes. "What does it all mean? How could you be looking for me all this time if I don't even know you?"

"This dream...it sounds terrible, and I'm sorry that you have suffered through it. I think somehow...it's my fault. With what I am and...and what you are, people are trying to keep us separate." His hand gently touched her cheek and he gave her a warm smile. "You need to know that you are incredibly special, and to me you are the most important person on the planet."

He continued to hold her close to his body, trying to comfort her in some way. His mind was reeling, as he was trying to find something that would trigger her memory, hoping that if she remembered things, it would help ease her pain. "I can promise you that I will do everything I can to make it so that these dreams go away, that you don't have to worry about them anymore. Someone out there wants us apart, but I won't let that happen. I'll make the dreams go away, I will do anything and everything in my power to make sure of that." With that, he decided to go to some drastic measures to help her get her memory back. While his arms were wrapped around her, his eyes locked on hers, his leathery wings sprouted out of his back, wrapping around her, comforting her.

Those wings? She'd seen them in her dreams and new instantly who he was but as promised she could not dare remember. And with every thought that driggered a distant memory pain coursed through her body. Starting from her feet all the way up her legs to her spine until it ended with a jolt in her mind. With a horrified scream she went limp in his arms a white aura engulfing her and propelling Cole across the room.

"You know Cole, you're quite persistant. Even when it is obvious she does not want to remember, you insist on causing her pain." The voice was ominous as a man began to form, Gia held protectively in his arms. "The Rogue dragon isn't pleased at all. With your selfish acts the one woman possible to bare his child is dead." He chuckled as he held Gia comfortably. "However you have done us all a great favor by returning your heart to this girl. By doing so she can bare a child worthy of our master... of course she can't have anything to do with you. The idea that she'd give you your heart back would make her worthless to us. So do us all a favor and just back off, let her bare the child and maybe we'll return her memories to her... long enough to kill you in front of her."

The strange man smiled evilly as he held Gia. She stirred slightly in his arms to which he waved his hand over her face, calming her and returning her into a deep slumber. The man himself set her down on the couch and smiled as he turned to Cole. "There's really nothing you can do. The more she tries to remember the more pain she'll go through. If you push too hard she might die...while that's not what we want it works in our favor so no one gets her. I'd advise you to simply stay away." she shrugged as his form began to disappear until he was nothing but eyes and a mouth. "Do us a favor. Forget about her... she's never going to remember you anyway." he smiled wide before he disappeared completely leaving Cole alone with Gia who lay sleeping on couch.

She stirred slightly before her eyes fluttered open. A headache she'd never experienced before muddled her thoughts and all that she'd seen just previously had been pushed to the far reaches of her mind but not forgotten. She simply could not recall. Looking up she saw Cole, "Wha...what happened? Ow... my head."

A headache she'd never experienced before muddled her thoughts and all that she'd seen just previously had been pushed to the far reaches of her mind but not forgotten. She simply could not recall. Looking up she saw Cole, "Wha...what happened? Ow... my head."

Cole felt his emotions reeling through his mind. This...this couldn't be true. He did not respond to anything the man in front of him said, he simply listened. His back was beginning to ache from being knocked down, but he ignored it completely. Focusing, he tried to concentrate on the man's face, to recognize it, see if he could tell who this man was. Unfortunately, it did not appear to be familiar, he had no idea who this man was, and why he knew so much about him and Gia. Had he been in his right mind, Cole would most likely have tried to attack the man, get some answers out of him, but he didn't, instead sitting there stunned.

He got up and walked over to where she was lying down, looking at her. His wngs tucked away and vanished, his eyes stayed locked on hers. All he knew now was that if he tried to get her to remember, it was going to hurt her, possibly kill her, and he couldn't have that. He also couldn't let her bare the child of some sick freak. He was going to find a way around this...he wasn't going to let her go. There had to be a way.

He kneeled beside her, pushing hair out of her face as she woke up. "I'm so sorry Gia...I don't know what I'm supposed to do here. If you want me to leave you alone and never speak to you again I will. But..." Tears began to flow down his face while he spoke to her. "But I won't let them take you like they want to..."

Blinking Gia looked to Cole then noticed the mess of where he'd been hit. She questioningly looked at him. "They?" Everything seemed so confusing but for now she didn't feel like thinking about it. All she knew was some guy wanted her to remember who he was.

Sighing she got to her feet wobbling slightly. "Look you can stick around if it makes you feel any better but I already told you that I don't remember." she said softly. Going to the kitchen she pulled out a broom and dust pan going to sweep up the glass left behind from Cole's encounter.

She had noticed his tears but tried blocking them out. His sadness for some reason hurt her more than she cared to admit. By cleaning up she could stay busy and keep her mind of his pain.

Standing up from where he had been kneeling, Cole wiped the tears from his eyes and watched as she grabbed a broom. "I don't know who 'they' are, but they're the ones who want us apart. And it looks like they're going to succeed." He watched her for a moment, seeing how she moved about the apartment, and for some reason he thought of all the time they had spent together before. He remembered the first day he met her, when they walked out on the beach, and then went back to his hotel, where he told her what he really was. Keeping quiet, Cole helped her to clean up the mess he had made, not saying a word while he did so. After they had finished cleaning everything, he gently took ahold of her hand so that she looked to him.

"I'm sorry that I brought all of this onto you. I know that it must be an incredible amount to take in, and there is really no reason for you to believe me or think of me as anything other than a raving lunatic. But I want you to know that if something happens..." He felt the tears welling up in his eyes again. "If you ever need any help, I'll be around. I'm going to find a way to get your memories back, I promise you. Until then, if you need me..." It was at this point that he realized he didn't have any place to stay yet. "I'll be around. I promise." He turned and walked towards the door, looking back at her before exiting the apartment.
