Kayte appreciation thread

So far the tree is still standing, the cards are almost all written.

The laundry is in the wash, I printed out the schedule for Spring semester.

I need a vacation where there is no use for the snow blower.

They are almost here...

Ultralight planes lead endangered birds to Florida

MONTICELLO- Ten endangered whooping cranes have landed in the Florida Panhandle.

The birds are three-quarters through their migration from Wisconsin to Florida.

They flew into Jefferson County on Friday after traveling 979 miles. They've got another 306 miles to go to reach their wintering habitats at St. Marks and Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuges along Florida's Gulf coast.

The cranes are six to seven months old. They're the 10th group of birds learning the migration route to Florida by following Operation Migration pilots in ultralight planes.

They'll return to Necedah, Wis., on their own in the spring. Next fall, they'll teach younger birds the way south.

Whooping cranes were nearly extinct in the 1940s. Only about 400 remain in the wild.

Good evening {{{{{Shagly}}}}}}  Sounds like you are getting all kinds of things accomplished for the season. :)

Well don't head in my area. This may be a heads up for you as well. Right now I'm under a blizzard warning. And that will last until 6 pm tomorrow.

Good evening {{{{{{Starry}}}}}} :kiss::heart:

Isn't that remarkable? :D Are you going to head to the site, or is that kept quiet down there so as to not interfere with the birds?

Hope your evening and night are going well. It was good to talk to you earlier.

Ummmm too much snow

Minneapolis Metrodome roof collapses during snowstorm

The Associated Press
Published: December 12, 2010

MINNEAPOLIS — The inflatable roof of the Minneapolis Metrodome, where the Minnesota Vikings play, has collapsed following a snowstorm that dumped 17 inches on the city.

The Metrodome is operated by the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission. Its executive director, Bill Lester, said his morning the damage is being assessed and the agency will issue a statement later. He says he has no details yet on what happened.

The National Weather Service says the storm that hit Minneapolis and much of the upper Midwest has dumped more than 21 inches of snow in some areas.

The Vikings' NFL football game today against the New York Giants had already been pushed to Monday.

It wasn't clear whether anyone was injured in the collapse, which happened overnight.

Now it's raining outside.

I just filled the fuel tank on the snowblower last night.

Something is going on, Kayte is being too quiet.

I know its just paternal instincts but my parents trained me.

They had a blizzard last night.
if things are ok where she is at then she has church this morning...
If things are bad like the stadium dome falling in then...
You are assuming she even had electric this morning to be on already.

I am betting she is at church and no news is good news. :rose:

Good afternoon {{{{{Shagly}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{Starry }}}}}}}}} :kiss::heart:

We only got 4 inches of snow where I am. They got over 10 inches about 20 miles north of me. It didn't look too bad early this morning so I did go to church. It was also in the upper 20s so the salt was pretty effective.

The temps dropped and the winds were at 40 gusting over 50 mpr while I was in church.

It was quite ride home. I am on a highway out in the "boonies" with lots of open fields on either side. There were whiteout conditions. It was a very slow ride home. I'm not going to sing at the assisted living center, nor will I be attending the choir christmas party. It was difficult enough with daylight. I don't want to deal with that road after dark.

Now my brother had tickets to todays game in Minneapolis. Not sure what will be done with the game. Maybe tomorrow night and maybe not.

I sent the 2 kids back home with my sister after watching them all afternoon, I had them making sugar cookies in the kitchen and even sent the sugar cookies home with them, my sister must be tired by now with the kids wired on sugar.

It was payback time for the free babysitting.:D

The game was moved to Detriot.
Glad you made it home alright. Ward Jan was without power for a while.
