Katrina

This scares the crap out of me. Anyone remember the old man who died when Mt. St. Helens erupted because he refused to leave? I think his name was Harry Truman. Anyway, I hope all those people who were saying at least they were going to die on Bourbon Street got their asses to The Dome. Sorry, but I'm a big chicken, I'd steal a car to get out if I had to. Hell, I'd steal a bus!

*praying for enough gas money for everyone* :rose:

Hurricane is to The Weather Channel as terrorist attack is to CNN.

You can almost see the producers drooling to maneuver those meteorologists into the worst of the storm.

I think I actually heard CNN refer to themselves as "Your hurricane headquarters" last night.
For all your hurricane needs....

She gives the stupid boy a whithing look, and stomps off to find a less literal boy eager to buy into her rationalization.

Lmao!
Actually, I couldn't sleep last night for thinking up different scenarios. What is wrong with me that I can turn every disaster into an opportunity to write smut?

Don't know, but I like it! Don't ever change! (unless it is into something more revealing...)

Thinking about what I've been missin' in the city....

the first pics of the storm hitting NO and other cities are pretty scary

our thoughts are with those friend in NO-- get to the skydome (already a bit damaged, and possibly w/o electricity. some hotels are helping, but first floors out of commission.

I'm just greatful I was not the only person thinking along those lines.

Then again I was watching shepard smith last night looking like he had been at a huricane party being more than a little bitter at the newroom people from his balcony in the french quarter.

And the spin-off tornados have already started. One just touched down in Brewton, Alabama (just up I-65 from Mobile).

edited to add: we're under a tornado watch already, and likely to remain under one for at least the next 24 hours.

Best post today.

118 mph? We measure wind in meters per second here. Anyone got the conversion formula so that I know what I'm looking at?

Wait, Google did it (all hail Google).

Man, that really blows. Hold onto your hats down there. :rose:

Think of the double set of numbers on an auto speedometer--118 mph/250kph.

Zoom, zoom, zoom. Can't stand up acn't keep eyelids closed, etc.

I've just come in from watching the sun set over a calm sea. The flags are barely moving, the wind turbines are stationary.

Rain forecast for tomorrow.

Our last hurricane was 1987.

They've already let schools out for the day, no word yet on tomorrow. No rain (yet), but the wind is whistling like hell out there, and I see a few smallish limbs down already.

Not sure how long power will last, but I'll update as long as I can.

I hope you have a surge protector if you are going to stay on line. Power can spike before it cuts off - and wreck your system.

Good luck. I'll be thinking of you.

Yes, I do...but thanks for worrying. :)

We should be good for another few hours, anyway.

Anyone heard from Colly lately?
