I wanna know, under what aegis is Kamala even campaigning for President, let alone choosing a VP?

She's not the nominee and changing the name on the campaign doesn't convey anything from Joe to her because she WASN'T running in the primaries as "President" and the voters cast their ballots for their delegates at the convention for Joe, who quit. Until she's officially nominated there's no authority for her to actually run for President. Until then, she can only run for VP.

Maybe that's why she's hiding in the basement while the world melts down and burns.

dudly, under those rules, ANYONE can declare their candidacy at any time. Yet, strangely enough, there are cutoff dates to file for running for office the State primaries. And without filing and running in a primary, one CANNOT campaign for an office one hasn't filed the proper forms for once the primaries are over. Otherwise, what's the point of cut off dates?

The latest date I can find for the 2024 primary is in MARCH 2024.

Kami didn't file her intention to run for President before that date. Which means she can't run for the office of President UNTIL AFTER she's OFFICIALLY nominated at the convention.

I'm not saying she can't run in the general because the name on the ballot in November is up to the party to decide at their convention (dat's da rulez) but UNTIL that happens, someone who didn't file/run in the primaries cannot campaign for the November election.

Basically, until she's the official nominee, she's in "stasis" as far as campaigning goes.

There are exceptions to cover the gap if the "official" nominee dies after being elected (and I think this might apply to being the nominee too but I'm not positive) but other than that, nope.

Write in candidates get tossed. Yeah, they're counted, but the Electoral college isn't going to cast their EC ballot in their favor even if they win. What happens is the Constitution says the House has to choose someone.

Fairly easy - she gained enthusiasm from apathetic voters who either didn't have an opinion of her or had not heard much about her. Add to that those voters who jumped on board who were not on board with Biden in any real way. It's a trend that will level out and probably drop a bit
