Gawd, I hate life sometimes. We managed to save up enough cash to replace the tires. 610 bucks for that. Big vehicle + big tires = equals big bill.

So what happens? The ball joints are bad and the bearings need replaced. How much? 650 more dollars. It took three months to get the $610 bucks for the tires for a stupid truck we can't even drive now. Why is it that when you fix one thing for a lot of money something else always has to be fixed, too?

You would think that I had enough hell in my life without piling more. But no-o-o-o-o-o. Now I have to pull money out of my ass while trying to keep the StudMuffin from finding a job. Again.

I think I'm going to go scream now.

I feel your pain sweetheart.

My Suburban needs tires now too. But last week it needed a new battery and an oil change and of course, they found a cracked hose while they were in there.

I hope things get better soon, and hey, if you need help pulling that money out of your ass, I'd be glad to be of assistance.

Is there no job he could safely do? Even a part time one?

haha thats what you people get for buying huge useless SUVs that only cause pollution and more rollover crashes

:p

The doctors have not released him to work. He's not allowed to and I'm inclined to agree with them.

I'm so sorry to hear that KM, I've also had a bad time with car repairs the last few months..it seems like everytime you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel someone comes along and plugs it up.

Tell me its none of my business, but why can't the studmuffin work?

i know just what your talking about....just as we got all the money together for our cars registraion & it needs 4 NEW tyres...that means roughly another $600....that is what we get for driving a V8 Commodore with low profile tyres i guess

Come back and talk to me when you have 4 kids and a couple of dogs, honeybunch.

I'm feelin your pain KM. Nothing is ever easy. I took my car in a couple months ago to get a 'minor oil leak' fixed. Turned out to be the head gaskets.... which of course warped the heads... and of course the exhaust manifold cracked... drained my checking account almost to the penny.

Yup. 2 kids, 3 dogs, and 5 horses. Pretty much NEED an SUV or full size truck. I'm looking into Suburbans when my mommy car needs replaced.

*shudder* i hope that never happens to me....

but whats wrong with a station wagon...no one wants them these days..

Do they even make decent sized station wagons anymore? I'd love to have a 9 passenger one like mom used to drive. Would still suck gas though... and wouldn't pull a horse trailer.

Then you're doing the right thing, even if it means it will take a little longer to get your truck back working.

mini vans? vw vans? no takers?

You're kidding, right? Minivans are clever disguises for the handbasket to hell. They're inconvenient to get the kids into, a pain in the ass to drive, and ugly as hell.

Have to say though..that after just finding out that CarolineOh! has been struck by a car today and has some serious injuries..

This just doesn't seem like that big of a problem.

[Edited to say] I realize I got all quipy...I apologize.
Just happened to read one post after the other and was still thinking about how horrible it would be to be struck by a car.

I lost my car recently. It was only $1,500, maybe $2,000 after repair work, but I had no insurance and didn't have a job, so there was no way for me to replace it. Now I'm trying to hunt for work in a city where you NEED a car to get around and it sucks.

I'm sorry for you KM, I know how you feel.

You were driving without insurance silly?
Uh oh, judge Mills Lane is gonna come after your ass now, lol.
:D

Yeah, thanks Dhal. You're all heart.

I don't compare apples and oranges. You shouldn't either.

But since you're into mitigating other people's pain, don't forget to swing by Caroline's thread and say that, "Well, after finding out that Slinky's Wench has a terminal disease and will soon leave her two young children without a mother, this just doesn't seem like a problem."

Wouldn't want Caroline or the people who care about her to think that her problems mean something cause there's always someone whose worse off.
