Just Venting

I just had to get this off my chest. I don't expect responses - I'm just venting.

Where I work, we take referrals for nurses to do home check-ups. Today we get a referral to go check on a baby that had just gone home from the hospital. The referral source wanted us to check on Mom for some reason.

Mom is 29 years old with 4 kids. I didn't have a problem with this. Mom has had 15 total pregnancies: 4 live births, 4 abortions, 6 spontaneous miscarriages, 1 tubal pregnancy. Obviously a 'fertile Myrtle'. Mom has NEVER been married and the only father involved with any of these children (none have the same father, by the way) is the father of the baby.

I've seen this same situation repeated numerous times over the years.

So what's my problem, you ask? Why is it that some people are able to get pregnant every time (or damn near every time) they have sex and other people who would LOVE to have children, would KILL to have children have the hardest time getting pregnant? Why is it that a lot of times, these women that are able to get pregnant so easily DON'T take care of the children they have?

It just frustrates me every time I see it. I have a friend who's trying to get pregnant now and is having a hellacious time with it. She'd make an EXCELLENT mother.

Why?
Why?
Why?

I know, why ask why but still.

Okay, done venting now.

Thank you all for your patience in listening to me bitch.

I say: women nowadays are too skinny. This may not be everybody's problem, of course, but it is a biological fact that you have to be moderately well-padded before you can conceive. My mother weighed about 100 pounds at 5'3, and tried to conceive for ten years. It was only after she gained about 20 pounds that she was able to become pregnant with me.

Just my two cents.

This is a shitty answer but the only one I have and the truth as I know it......."Life ain't fair and never will be"....like I said a shitty answer but the only one I have.

because life is never fair...and nurses need one more thing to be frustrated about.

My favorite...patients who come in strung out on cocaine, just another daily occurence to them, and NOW insist we do everything to make sure their baby is fine.

And usually I am caring for someone experiencing a loss at the same time.

Life is not fair. In a nutshell.
