I just got back from my Doctor. and I am feeling a bit stressed right now. I have been haveing some pretty bad chest pains for about the last week. Already had been to the ER about it heart rate and everything looked good.

So today I went to my Doctor for the follow up vist. We talked about what was going on with my chest. I don't believe its my heart Or that I have been haveing any kind of heart attack. I have been a paramedic and worked enouch calls to know a heart attack.

But Thrusday morning my Doc wants me to have a stress test done. I am pretty sure it will show nothing worng. I guess its the thought of going through it and the what if that seems to come from the not knowing.

So if I seem a bit more flaker than normal it just becouse I am driveing my self nuts until I get this over with.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/willow47501/smilies/36_5_1.gif

I feel your pain.

I was having some chest pains awhile ago, and my doctor sent me to a cardiology clinic for a stress test. Imagine my chagrin when I drove up to the clinic, and it was RIGHT NEXT DOOR to a funeral parlor! NOT a good omen!! I pictured my dead carcass being dragged through the alley from the clinic to the slab.

But the test went fine, and they gave me a clean bill of health. I'm sure you will get the same good news. Good luck!......Carney

I did a stress test awhile back. Kind of interesting.

Did anybody mention the possibility of panic attacks? Though if you've been a paramedic you've probably seen them too.

Good luck.

Yip I have delt with some people that are close to me that have had panic attacks.

I had a fatty tumor removed from the left side of my chest, well thats where it started went all the way around to my back, They removed it about 3 or 4 years ago. I remember the Doctor say they didn't get it all. MY thought was it had maybe grew back and was pressing on something to couse the pain. Bit know I have to do this:eek:

That would have gave me the same feeling seeing that. Glad everything came out OK.

I know it's hard, but try not to worry yourself too much about it. After all, worrying won't change anything, right? Besides, it might actually skew the results of the test.

Good luck. :rose:

Sometimes acute indigestion can cause chest pains.

Good luck with your test. :)

Thanks everone.

My Father passed away when he was 52 I turn 50 in Sept. So a good result on this test will make me feel better. So in away I am looking forward to getting it over with. I know already all my heart rythmes are normal.

I think to take my mind off this I going to take my Grandchildern on a Picknix Wedsday when we are to watch them.

Grandchildren rock big.

I did a stress test, myself. Sistah Mibby. They said I had the heart of a teenager. The chest pains were intercostal. I was amazed, because my Dad had angina and my grandfather died of a heart attack while trout fishing. Altogether, I was sure I had a cardiac problem, but the test said no.

Good fortune, y'old faht.

:D

I've had a few of them. Had atrial fibrillation and they had to do two cardiac ablations where they go in through the neck and groin and burn right inside my heart. No big deal. I'm okay now.

I woke up during the second procedure and could feel the catheter inside my heart, heating up. It uses radio frequency energy, kind of like a little microwave oven on a stick. I felt my heart getting warm in there and told them they better give me some more anesthetic, so they did. :D You don't want to be awake while they're fucking around inside your heart.

I know all about hearts now.

*hugs* try not to worry, whatever you find out it'll be better to find o ut so you can do osmething about it.

Believe me, I know. Worrying helps no one, I've done my share of it lately!

Get yourself taken care of! Sending strength and well wishes. Also, have your gall bladder checked; pain there can sort of migrate to your chest area.

I was going to say the same thing. Changing your diet might help you a lot. Sometimes when I eat foods that are really fatty or laden with refined junk, I get a pain in my chest. Hope you feel better soon. :rose:

Atrial fibrillation?

There's a relatively benign heart condition called "atrial fibrillation," where the atria are throwing extra beats. It causes pressure in the chest and, in extreme cases, all the symptoms of a heart attack (shortness of breath, no energy, etc.). It's actually not too severe but it's not to be ignored, either, because if it goes on for more than a day, blood can pool and then clot in the atria, elevating your risk of stroke enormously. If it's relatively chronic, they can treat this with beta blockers and things.

Astronaut Deke Slayton had this and they kept him out of space for years until they finally figured out that it just didn't make a lot of difference that his heart skipped beats now and then. (His wasn't too bad, apparently.)

That's what I had too, though I was asymptomatic. See my post above.

It's not bad unless you have an elevated heart rate, then it can be serious. Mine was chronic too. It never went away.
