Civil rights groups will converge on Washington, D.C. to protest white supremacist rally
Black Lives Matter leaders have planned a counter-protest against the Unite the Right encore.
JUL 30, 2018
After learning last month that the National Park Service had accepted a permit for the white supremacist rally, which is being organized by those responsible for the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville last year, BLM organizers were left feeling frustrated, according to D.C.-based WTTG. The group decided to channel its disappointment into direct action, organizing its own rally to counter the narrative being pushed by the “White Civil Rights” demonstrators.

D.C. (Racist "Unite The Right") organizers: "I cannot believe I have to say this: the Unite the Right counter protest is not being organized by Russians."
JUL 31, 2018
Facebook does not yet have enough evidence to determine exactly who was behind this round of fake accounts, though says it some of the deleted pages had connections with Russian-linked accounts that were previously disabled.
Among the pages deleted was a popular event page called "No Unite The Right 2 - D.C.," a counterprotest to the looming white supremacist rally taking place in D.C. on August 12.
The only problem? D.C. organizers say the page was legit, and they're angry at Facebook for taking it down.
The "No Unite the Right 2" organizers have since created a replacement Facebook event called "Nazis Not Welcome No Unite The Right 2."

Metro Considers Private Cars For Unite The Right Rallygoers
August 3, 2018
(DC) Metro will provide three private railcars and a police escort for those attending the “Unite the Right II” rally in the District, according to the transit agency’s largest union
The white nationalist group is gathering Aug. 12 at Lafayette Park to rally for “white civil rights” and to mark the anniversary of the protests in Charlottesville that turned violent.
Several tweets swiftly condemned the idea of Metro giving special trains to white nationalists, but Heaphy said while many disagree, it makes sense for safety.
“Metro is doing their best to ensure the First Amendment rights of the permit holders are protected,” Heaphy said. “The laws are content neutral.

The racists could not get permission to attack Charlottesville, again. So, they are sneaking into Washington, DC, again. That is where they started. Under false identity, their racist group deceived a restaurant owner into allowing them to book a function.
The mysterious last-minute reservation Friday at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Friendship Heights brought diners attending a conference hosted by the National Policy Institute, an alt-right think tank categorized as a white nationalist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The restaurant pledged to donate the proceeds from Friday night, a total of $10,000, to the Anti-Defamation League nonprofit based in the nation’s capital.

Downtown businesses still reeling after Aug. 12
August 4, 2018
In the 12 months since the Rodis, Richey and others watched neo-Nazis and armed militiamen “invade” their town and their businesses, the fellow downtown business owners have banded together to keep their stores and restaurants afloat and to try to prevent a second violent rally.
In an interview with National Public Radio the week after the attack, Mike Rodi laid out his perspective:
“They got what they wanted. They came here, they hurt us, they scared us and they killed us. So, I think we need to go forward and say to this group when they try to get a permit, we must not even concede that they are legitimate political groups. They are terrorists. That is what they’ve shown us. They are coming here to hurt us, and we have a right to defend ourselves,” he said.
